You are too modest dude. I've been a mechanic for almost 20 years and currently an automotive instructor at a technical college. Not only do you work in a very organized manner, your video instruction is incredibly clear and concise. Well done! I run an 08' Bullitt.

Thank you David. This is a huge compliment and I appreciate it very much. What should have took me 3 hours took 8 (I didn't finish until 6am). I have a newfound respect for mechanics from this install because of how much my back, knees, and fingers hurt after putting these parts on. I am debating doing a cam install video, I may have some questions for you!

You bet brother. Feel free to ask. I have access to Ford documents if necessary. Your videos were so helpful. I was feeling the itch (intake, tune etc...) I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger. The Bullitt I feel pulls good already. I'm thinking kooks headers and aluminum driveshaft for sure. And a dyno tune. I've heard that the engine revs much quicker which can improve downshift timing. I've done mostly suspension and I also installed an MGW shift linkage.

Thanks for the love meng. I end up with a lot of extra footage / outtakes because I mess up so much, figure why not try and repurpose it in a fun way. I do really like the way the engine looks with all the dress-up... I mean not as nice as yours, but now I just gotta get these power numbers dialed in.

Hey dude, thank you for making such a straight forward video. I know the amount of editing that goes into a video like this. Just install the Ford Racing valve covers. First time I'd done anything remotely close to this. I broke my oil filler neck trying to get it off. new one was only $11 so not so bad. Thanks again for the video!

Yes, COP bolts have stripped on mine. I did get the bolts out, however trying to tap the holes out doesn't do you any good so it seems. Quick fix for this is a bolt and nut so you can drive the car, however you will probably need to tap out for a larger bolt slightly or new valve covers if this happens. I hate not driving in my car right now. 🙄

I’m at where you are in the build however, my next step next month is to do the intake manifold from Ford racing as you did as well as the Ford racing hot rod cams. I believe I have more mods at this point on my bill than you do. I have done a complete BMR suspension Including Ibach pro kit springs and Koni adjustable struts and shocks As well as a billet pro Hurst shifter. Oh yes and I custom Bama performance tune from American muscle. As the car sits right now without the Ford racing intake and Ford racing cams installed oh wait a minute I forgot I have a McLeod Race clutch as well with an upgraded 3655 speed transmission billet steel 26 spline input shaft and since my 2010 Mustang GT is the premium package it came with 373 gears in a locker differential. So as it sits right now it is faster than the non-supercharged Camaro SS with the 6.1 L V-8 in it. It is embarrassing to the Chevrolet Owners as I can quickly put three car links on them in the quarter mile. I have also had the opportunity to race a few non-supercharged Corvette they didn’t fare so well either. I’ve been street racing since I was 15 years old and I’m 47 years old now so yes I can drive the car. Maybe if the Chevrolet owners were better drivers I don’t know maybe they would’ve been me. Although, it is very embarrassing for a Corvette owner to have his ass handed to him by a small block 4.6 L V8 Mustang. I have since started buying The parts from Shelby America to turn this mustang into a Shelby GT. I have acquired all of the parts and they have been installed and Shelby America sent me the door jam plates to denote that it is a Shelby now. And I have installed the Shelby lettering on the rear trunk just under the third brake light her positioning as installed by Ford. Great new channel like the content. No one seems to give the small three valve V8 engine much attention until I showed them the tail lights definitely A new subscriber and I will be following your build. Thank you for taking interest in the awesome ford small block. I am a retired Ford mechanic and enjoy showing off the 281 in.³ V8 based on the 60s ford 289H.O.

Ha great question... So the part you're referencing was at about 6am. I started installing / shooting around 7pm. I had already made a few major errors before that moment, like leaving the fuel line disconnected while trying to start the car. That sent gobs of fuel all over the valve covers and caused petro to pool in all matter of nooks and crannies. I really wanted to drive home and was super worried that either: (1) the canned bama tune wouldn't work or (2) the engine would catch of fire or (3) both. I had a bucket of water and a fire extinguisher just out of view of the camera, just in case any combustion occurred outside of the engine. I have been on the lookout for your Mustang and am usually pretty observant... Anyway it's in storage now because I'm done driving in the morning snow - too many close calls. Y'know what Mustang I see all the time?! That bright orange jimmy-johns-delivering V6!

Helluva build you have going on there. So, building in stages is definitely not the most efficient way to build up these cars, but it does make for more interesting content, enable me to enjoy the car at various performance levels, and also makes the cost of the whole endeavor more palatable. Do you have any videos of your Mustang? You should consider making a video about your project and its current state. Would be really interesting. Also what about that ram? I also have a 2012 Ram 1500 Express 5.7L, but I baby it because I love that friggin truck.

Great video! Thanks for all the work it took to produce this. Why didn't you upgrade your cams while you were doing this? It would have made a big difference.

Two reasons: stage 2 is all about bolt-ons and I'm not stoked on the torque curve of cammed 3vs as gains are mostly realized above ~5k RPM (I don't spend much time in that range). I'll get cams after boosting, or just before. And thanks, appreciate the appreciation!

Would it have been easier to attach the fuel crossover hose with the intake off the car? The fuel rail attaches to the intake itself from what I can see or remember on my old 2 valve crown vic.

I saw this exact intake manifold online for a 4.6L engine, I want to put install it as well but I have Crown Vic. Since it’s also a 4.6L SOHC and the intake is for a Mustang from 05-2011, my Vic is a 08 do you think it will fit?

Im guessing this was before you put the stock intake back on? Building a pre boost NA set up and wanna know if the ford intake is worth getting seeing how im gonna put a turbo on it later. If it is worth it, is it a mod i should get at the end before adding the boost?

Definitely not the intake manifold if it's a top-mount supercharger (roots, eaton), but probably not a bad idea if it's centrifugal. As for the TB, unless your engine's built and you're planning on running 12+ lbs of poost, meh not really.

no actually it lost power because i was on a bama tune with stock cams. you should notice a decent bump in top-end power since you're procharged. definitely recommend a dyno tune.

From my experience and testing, the stock manifold is great for low and mid-range torque, but it suffers above 5,500'ish RPM where horsepower dramatically drops off. The performance manifold definitely reduces low and mid-range torque, but let's the engine breath way better in the upper RPMs where the horsepower line maxes out and then just goes sideways. So, the performance intake will give you higher horsepower, but it's really how you want to the car to drive (mid range torque vs peak power). I do recommend removing the CMCVs and keeping the stock intake. While you won't see much peak gain, you'll notice more area under the curve. The valves take about 1 full second to open on full throttle, so that delay is no doubt starving the turbo of exhaust gasses - the car should feel snappier. Also, if you remove the CMCVs, you'll need to retune the car as the ECU senses the disconnection and resets any timing changes you may have made.
