How To Install Feit Dimmer Switch Wifi Light Switch From Costco

Feit Dimmer Switch: amzn.to/3aYW4f3
Favorite Smart Home Devices: www.amazon.com/shop/onehoursm...
In this video we teach you how to install the Feit smart dimmer switch. The Feit wifi smart dimmer connects directly to your wifi network and allows you to remotely control your lighting from your phone.
Once the Feit wifi smart dimmer is connected you can remotely control it from the Feit app to turn on and off your lights or set the dimming levels. It's also compatible with Alexa, Google Home and Siri (HomeKit) voice assistants meaning that you can also control your lighting with voice commands including turning your lights on or off and dimming them with voice commands.
The Fiet dimmer switch does require a neutral wire for installation. Most homes built after 1980 will have a neutral in the switch box but not all homes do. Some homes built before 1980 may still have a neutral wire in the switch box but it's a lower % than homes built after 1980 because of a change in building codes in the 1980's.
When installing the Feit wifi dimmer switch when you are connecting the device to wifi it's important to note that it will only connect to 2.4GHZ networks. So if you have a dual band router, you will either need to make sure that you connect to the 2.4GHZ network or temporarily disable the 5GHZ network while you connect the smart light switch. The Feit smart dimmer is not compatible with 5GHZ networks but most 5GHZ routers also have a 2.4GHZ network.

This took me a week to finally get working. Here are the things I missed in hopes that it will help you. 1. I needed to go to Home Depot and buy a roll of white wire. I needed 14 gauge. But you might need 12 gauge. If you aren’t sure, buy 12. 2. Make sure your wire nut can handle all the white wires together. 3. The two black wires might need to be switched, so if you aren’t getting power one way, try switching them. Apparently on a normal single pole switch it doesn’t matter so sometimes the load wire and the hot wire are attached backwards. Hope that helps anyone else struggling with this!

Thanks for the video - it was a life (or at least sanity) saver. I have one additional piece of advice for people installing FEIT switches into a multi-gang box. In my 3-gang box, there old switches did not use the neutral (white) wires so all of the white wires (seven total) were twisted into one giant bundle. Your video saved me from the impossible (for me) task of figuring out which of the white wires to use. The problem not addressed in your video was that the bundle of wire was already so big that I could not manage to get three more into it! After several attempts, I eventually decided to add just one more short piece of 14-guage wire to the giant bundle. I then twisted the other end of that wire with three more short connector wires so that I had one for each of the three FEIT dimmers that I installed in the box. Worked fine and allowed me to continue without trying to bend that giant bundle of wires. As I am sure you know, a bundle of seven 14-Guage wires is REALLY hard to bend. Best to just leave them at the back of the box.

AND: The unit powers up, all indicator lights come on and it's synced up with the FEIT App...But my lights will not come on? Is there something simple I am missing? • Our home was built in 1994 and there is a neutral wire. • One room has 4 standard incandescent lights (single pole) (in a 2-gang box) • The other room is single pole, one dimmable LED light. (in a 4 gang box). Note: I have done this configuration in two separate rooms (separate switches) and get the same result. Fingers crossed you have an idea. Cheers!

The manual is showing you maintaining a continuous circuit with the neutral wires and a continuous circuit with ground wires. In this video we do that but we complete the circuit using the wire nuts wired in the box with the neutral wires wired together in a bundle with a wire nut and the ground wires wired together in a bundle with a wire nut. We then use a single extension wire from each bundle of wires to the terminals on the light switch. This allows us to wire the device using wire loops on the side rather than back wiring the device.

get a contactless current detector like www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-Electric-Non-contact-Tester-with-Screw-driver-NCS-8904R/206177753 remove the switch plate cover and with the switch in the off position, test for current on either wire. Only one wire should show current, that is your hot, or line/source/supply, the other will be your load. Turn off the breaker before you do anything else. then test again to be sure nothing is hot before proceeding. remove old switch marking wires appropriately and proceed. Hire an electrician if unsure.

Normally, the line coming from the bottom of the blue box goes to your breaker, and the lines running out of the top go to your light bulbs. If they are both coming out of the top, then you need to use a voltmeter and figure out where the electricity is coming from with the breaker on.

I just had the same thing. On a set of FEIT lights it works well but it is not in another room with other brand lights. I think it is a compatibility issue. It depends on how your light handles the off current. I am still looking for another one. I feel it should be something that has a smaller minimum load requirement.

one question.. do I must have ground connect to it in order for it to work? in my existing witch the ground (copper wire ) is not connected, Thank you!

It's best to because if there is a power surge. The ground directs it to the ground rod for the house. If there is no ground it could cause a fire because the extra energy will be released elsewhere

Turned out it was a 3 way switch. We ended up returning it as after finally installing it, it requires 2.4 wifi which is unavailable in our area.

I set up these switches in my house but for some reason all the switches don't turn on at 100% even though it shows 100%. I have ability to click up and it gets brighter. Does anyone know how to fix this?

The switch is programmed to self regulated by the app. You can manually override it physically at the switch.

Anyone have a problem with a false 100% dimming level? The app says 100%, but if I press the button on the switch to increase the brightness, it goes up to the true 100% level. Furthermore, the fake 100% level makes the lights flicker

The age of the house isnt the defining factor for neutral in box. Its the way the fixture is powered. Ideally the line from the breaker comes to the switch first (with a white in the box under a nut) then to fixture. But sometimes the power goes to the fixture first then to switch. The switch has 2 black (usually a black and a white taped or marked black) and breaks that line. Totally common and safe. Easiest solution is a Wi-Fi lightbulb if the fixture will take it. Maybe in the future there will be an in fixture add on device to make these Wi-Fi switchable as power goes there first.

Crap. This doesn't work properly at all. I'm not able to program it and it doesn't recognize my 2.4 Ghz wifi. I purchased a pack of 3 from Costco and the screw plate (to hold each wire) bent very easily. This is not a safe product. Return immediately
