Adapt and overcome!!

I installed a 14” ape at my RKS. It took 4 hours to feed the wires and so on. Total instal about 2 days. Extended Clutch cable mount from which you have to dismantling the sidecover right. I put also an Advanblack easy clutch in it! The brakeline is still the same. Its a pain in the ass the whole thing but you forget it quick when riding later on….

Having changed a few of these, I can’t over state enough how important it is to plan ahead and know the bar diameter and riser diameter of the old and new bars first. I always try and get bars that are tapered down to match the stock riser diameter, makes life easier and cheaper! Even then though, sometimes unexpected problems come up, as you’re aware! Finished bike looks good though.

Omg! You made this way harder then it should be and it’s already a hard job! I’ll give some tips so people can actually perform this job with some success. First of all those bars aren’t for a road king! There for a street glide. They don’t look right on there at all. Anyway. Do a lot of research before doing this job. You need more then you think. Bars, grips, cables, extensions, new clamp depending on bar size. Solid bushings as well. Get rid of Harley rubber bushings. Never put a zip tie on the wiring and try to pull it through. Never add more. It’s best to take the jacket off the wiring and tape it super tight and also tape your pull through on. I used weed wacker wire. You will have to unpin your connection plugs and re pin once through the new bars. Alway unplug the main fuse when your unplugging wiring. Prob why he had a check engine light. You will also have to remove the seat and gas tank if you change cables. Not sure why his cover didn’t fit back on over the bar clamps. Mine fit and I went with 1 1/2 inch bars!?!?? Also if your going taller go with a top clamp with set screws to hold the taller bars better. Just don’t try and go cheap. It’s expensive to do bars. Expect to spend about $1200 on parts.

Thanks for convincing me that I will be taking my bike to shop and have them go through the trouble. Not for me.

is there some advantage to putting on fairing style bars to straights bars?

What size were the stock risers? Vs bars

I changed the handlebars on my road king special 2021 it took just under 3 hours start to finish

Did your stock 1.5 inch bars step down to 1.25 under those risers?

First thing you should do is protect that tank!

Any electrical problems after getting the bike going ??

None whatsoever. Even had it taken to a dealership for service and they saw nothing as well
