    Hi Vincent, Old Miata fan here. Nice job on the video, I’ve had the wheel off several times but didn’t know how an upgrade would be done. You cleared that up, thanks. Typically, I have a picky complaint, the air bag is retained by four 10mm nuts, not bolts. Really a minor thing, your video is otherwise, clear, well spoken and very informative. Thank you for being well above the KZread average.

    Hey Vincent, wanted to thank you for your videos! I've watched everything I could find about installing coilovers and the Daikei hub in my NA prior to install. During the install I found I would refer to your videos. Clear, concise, not much fluff made for a perfect reference. Went into the installs confident and they turned out great! I do have one question about the Daikei hub. My hub cover seems to leave a 1/2" gap at the back (Bad description) did yours fit perfectly or did you have a gap?

    Would a quick release work with that hub?

  • @VincentLawv

    @VincentLawv

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes! It should work with that hub, but the only issue is that the hub is already around 80mm already. Adding a quick release would end up making the whole assembly pretty tall which means the steering wheel will be super close to you. If you planned on getting a deep dish steering wheel then the wheel might end up right at your chest. I recommend getting a shorter hub to compensate for the quick release (: Check out the NRG short hubs or Works Bell short hubs. Maybe even the NRG low profile quick release as well! Good luck!!!

    Does this hub work with a quick release? If you bolt the quick release onto the end of the hub

  • @VincentLawv

    @VincentLawv

    3 жыл бұрын

    I believe it should work, but the issue is that this hub is pretty lengthy. It's around 80mm long (~3 inches) by itself. If you get a deep dish wheel like I did and add the quick release, you probably won't be able to reach your blinker/wiper stalks easily. As of now, with only the hub and the deep dish wheel, I can only reach the stalks if I loosely grip the wheel with my thumb and stretch my hand out. If you want to put a quick release on top then you should look at the bell works short hub (~50mm) or NRG thin version quick release hub (~30mm). Make sure to do your research on specific parts and figure out measurements so you know exactly what you're looking for (: Good luck!

  • @thequietkiwi

    @thequietkiwi

  • @VincentLawv

    Thank you! It is a 350mm wheel with 88mm Dish. The hub is around 80mm, so it brings the wheel towards me about 168mm which is around 6.6 inches. I can see all the gauges properly but because of a more upright seating position, the wheel just barely clips off the top of the oil pressure gauge. If I lean the seat back a little then it’s perfectly find. I hope this helps! (:
