I show every step in my process. First, there's ground prep to build a level pool pad (removing sod, leveling the pad using a line level, building a sand box, adding mason sand). Then I build the pool itself. I talk about which robotic pool cleaner is the best (I tried three different robotic pool cleaners). I also explain how to deal with a huge solar cover. Last, we swim in the pool and enjoy it!

KZread recommended this video because I was looking a pool a while ago. I clicked on it because it looked like that big one Costco sells, and I wanted to see the scale of it. As I started watching, the area around your house felt familiar. I clicked forward to the sand delivery and I said hold up, that is my old neighborhood and we lived in that corner house past the green one! Small world!

Very neatly and precisely done, and I totally disagree with your words that you didnt have an idea of what are you doing; your work was thoroughgoing indeed. I am about half way of rough soil preparation for my Intex circular pool, and I have a solid construction foreknowledge, but good sugestiong are always desirable. Good job on the install. We did a smaller 9x18 version. You are correct in the ground prep. When they say level ground, they mean 100% level. The pool will not hold up if its on uneven ground. I see you put plywood under the side supports, mine the plywood just sank into the ground from the weight put on those supports. The second year i laid a perimeter of 2x6 for the rails to sit on and that supported them much better. We live in WI so the pool had to come down every year. Each year after, it took about two hours to put back up, super fast. Pool lasted 8 years, best $800 I ever spent. Two things people really should be aware of. If the pool breaks you are going to dump 18,000 gallons of chlorinated water. If the pool is close enough to buildings, that much water can take out a foundation wall. All vegetation will die and your neighbors can file a homeowners claim against you. On the 8th year our insurance company did a drive by of our home "who knew they did that" saw the pool and we received a notice that they would not cover any damage caused by the pool. Kids were out growing it though and we gave it it to friends who lived in out in the country and it lasted them another 4 years. Good memories.

I think you said 18x30 but I can;t seem to find anything that size out there. 16x32 is the biggest by intex. How does your pump do and the final robot worth the money or just manual vaccuum? Also love the underlayment you chose, I see a ton of people using blueboard but I worry about rot with stuff not breathable etc.

Here is a link to the pool. www.splasharoundpools.com/soft-sided-pools/summer-breeze/ The pool size is 18x30. The pump is great. Our water is always clear (except that I forgot to put chlorine in the pool for a while and we got some algae - made a vid on that too). I love the robot, because it picks up the big chunks like leaves and such. But it doesn't do a super great job on fine particles. Thanks for the positive comment!

I like the robot cleaner. It is not an all in one solution however, which I was hoping it would be. It cannot pick up tiny particles. So when it is done with a cycle, and everything settles back to the bottom, there are little piles of sediment. It's not much, but if you want it perfectly sparkling clear, you will have to manually vacuum it out.

You do good work, but everything the hard way. Try foling the solar cover in half 3 times. boom, done in 5 mintes. But the reel for this pool is under 100. SO, that's the best option.

I would be sure to use the deepest setting on the sod cutter. I would give more detail to the sand box … make sure it was SUPER sturdy. I would install a solar cover reel from the beginning (essential for me on such a big pool). And once the cyanuric acid levels reached about 25 to 30, I would stop using the chlorine pucks and start using liquid chlorine.

You're gonna have to "eyeball" it - the base of the legs will move outward while filing, so they should start at the near end if your block/pad. Or you call pull the base of the legs tight on both sides and place the blocks based on where they end up.

@@myboringchannel um, all of it lol the leveling of the ground was most intimidating to me but after reading one the comments here about it needing to be away from the house or it could damage the foundation is now overwhelming me. Now I'm going to have to tell my husband we have to do it in part of our yard that will require us putting up three new privacy fence sides, yikes. He is not going to be happy. We bought enough horse stall mats ($827 worth) to be the pool foundation/cushion instead of using sand so that seems it will be less of a hassle than leveling sand and we won't need to construct a border to keep the sand in place. It's already so hot here in Texas. I thought I had done enough research on this (been researching a year on and off) but I clearly didn't. Frustrating.
