Great video! This video gave me the confidence to replace my clutch cable on my 2007 HD Ultra Classic 96 cu..... One word of advice, get an OEM cable and not an aftermarket. I made the mistake of buying an aftermarket cable only to find out it was the wrong cable for my bike. Wasted a lot of time but, learned a lot. Bought the OEM cable and everything came together as it was meant to be. :). Also, in my case I had to remove the footrest to get the clearance I needed to get the bottom two bolts in.

Great video. With the exception of how to adjust the clutch. He just hooked it up when he pulled the derby cover to show where the adjustment is to be made. Didn't get into the mechanics of how to properly adjust the clutch by backing off the nut, adjusting the allen bolt first, then locking it down. That is a very important step. Especially if you don't know how to do it. I adjust every oil change.

Wow, Really helpful with all the detailed explanation, closeup video, and tips on common pitfalls. Thank you! I had a couple of thoughts while I watched that might just add a small contribution to a great video: 1. Would it make sense to say "Drain the transmission oil" instead of "Drain the oil"? You might be surprised at the number of people who don't know that the transmission oil is separate from the motor oil on big twins. 2. With the cable torque at only 3 lbs/ft at the transmission cover, would a drop or two of blue Locktite on the (clean) threads act as both a thread locker and a sealant? 3. If you attach a cut up wire coat hanger to the lever end (eyelet) of the old cable when you pull it through the fairing, could we possibly attach the new cable to the end of the wire and guide it back through the fairing without taking the front of the fairing off? Loved the exhaust pipe tip! I hate taking off all the plumbing! Thanks.

@@HillCountryCustomCycles So I just ordered a new cable from you guys because with my current cable if I back out the adjuster at the clutch pack 1/2 to 3/4 turn I still have so much slack that the cable adjuster runs out of threads and there is still excessive slack at the lever. By turning the adjuster all the way in, theoretically it should take up some of that slack and give me more adjustment at the cable right?? Have any of your customers reported any clutch issues from you running the adjuster all the way in and then using the cable adjuster to fine tune?? I appreciate any info you can provide.

+John Holmes you may want to watch the video again. It sounds like your clutch cable is in the wrong position when you put the transmission cover back on. It's stuck.

DAMN, I GOT SO PARANOID WATCHING YOUR VID ON SCREWING the NEW CABLE INTO HOUSING. I WAS AFRAID TO STRIP, that WAS INTENSE JOB. TOOK ME NEAR 10 MINUTES JUST GET that DAMN CABLE SCREWED INTO HOUSING PROPERLY. HARDEST PART of the JOB. ALSO NO NEED TO REMOVE DRAIN PLUG, OIL COMES RIGHT OUT WHEN YOU OPEN CASE. JUST COVERED FRAME WITH CARDBOARD, OIL DRIPPED RIGHT INTO PAN.
