Great video. Most people can't explain the basics. They start talking about personal abstractions.

Simple, to the point, and you include some code requirements, which answers the why. This makes more sense than most other plumbing videos. Awesome job!

Besides being quieter in the wall, cast iron is more *fireproof* and won't give off *toxic fumes* when exposed to flame... that's why many high-rise codes specify only cast iron for DWV.

So for every 4 feet of run you will need. One inch total grade. Is this correct???

Also is this unversial for all state or does it differ state to state. Im in washinton state so is one inch every 4 feet up to par with washinton code and ive noticed in crawl spaces most plumbers use the metal pea tape not the plastic is that a actual code violation using metal pea tape in a crawl space

Which is better abs or pvc piping and fittings, or do they have different applications?

Try using that when underneath a house for 6hrs doing a 100ft drainage.

What determents whether to use ABS or PVC. Cost?

They perform the same. Regardless of the cost, ABS is a less toxic plastic. PVC is notoriously toxic it can even off gas in the air, so if you care about that stuff that can be something to consider :)

@@vroor32 I would guess that there is another reason but I'm really not sure... The plumbing code in my area actually has a line for ABS but I've not seen it used. PVC seems most common.

Is that ABS glue/cement a all in one or do you need primer also?

Good question. For ABS glue there is no primer but for PVC glue there is a primer and I recommend using it.

I'll take my Lennox ratchet cutters or my cordless sawzall, time is money

You can't do that if you are working inside a hole.....
