    One tip: After connecting the water line, immediately run at least a quart/liter through the water dispenser to clean out the lines. Then toss the first batch or two of ice. The water and ice should be clear and colorless before being consumed.

    Thanks. Very informative. I did it myself. My dad, who is stuck in the Philippines due to covid19, would be proud of his daughter. I didn't get a discount for declining the service but I always like doing this kind of stuff myself. That way I know it's done right. I tee'd the line from my under-sink water filter and added a shut off valve.

    Hey Lani, I have 2 daughters and s son and I LOVE when they tackle a project regardless of the result. It’s how you build confidence and it gives you skills to help others. I know your dad would be proud! And when he gets back, you make SURE you show him your handiwork!! And you are so right - now you KNOW it’s done right AND you have the satisfaction of knowing you did it!!! Great job! Thx for watching and letting us know about your efforts. We love people jumping on the DIY / sweat equity train! All-aboard !

    When your fridge is just delivered you should wait about an hour before plugging in your fridge too let the refrigerant have time too settle because it could be pooled up where it might hydro lock your compressor.

    Does the ice maker need a certain flow of water? Or can that 1/4 line just be connected right to a main supply? I need to instal the actual supply. Didnt know if it needed a special valve or regulator

  • @Housebarons

    @Housebarons

    You can connect to main supply but you do want a valve to make sure it can be turned off locally if it leaks or if the fridge needs to be replaced. Thx for watching!

    How can you tell when the refrigerator is back far enough but not so far as to crimp the hose/valve connection? Maybe an elbow at valve discharge. Good tip on tying up the excess hose, they didn't do that on our new fridge, and the water valve leaked. Thanks

  • @isaacosuna5251

    @isaacosuna5251

    A little late but your refrigerator should have some clearance on the back of at least 5cm which should be enough for the valve connections

    Could you also tell me other things about this Whirlpool refrigerator? If so, is there a way to adjust the doors? the refrigerator has been leveled but the doors are not, maybe about 1/4". Is there some secret adjustment screw hiding. Thanks

  • @samclements8748

    To level doors you have to adjust the feet at the bottom front of the fridge behind the plastic grill near the floor.

    Hey Hungry, Hmmm. Not really sure since a different model. Maybe a call/chat to the maker - often they ( or even the big box store ) may be able to quickly steer you in the right direction.

    Might want to put a hook on the wall and a long extendable spring to hang the slack water line. Otherwise, it will get scrunched up against the wall and prevent the fridge from sliding back as far as it could go!

    Hey Duane, We bought ours at Lowe’s during Black Friday. I’m surprised they want to come in houses especially during COVID. Maybe since we bought at Black Friday they have an “up charge” for installation in an attempt to make a little margin back. Back if you get no discount, then I’d stay out of their way and let them put it in. Enjoy & thx for watching.

    Not sure why you would get a 10 ft. supply line to go less than a foot.

  • @seikibrian8641

    @seikibrian8641

    3 жыл бұрын

    A 10-foot line might be longer than needed, bit that's better than being shorter than needed. You need to be able to get behind the fridge to connect the line and then roll it into place when finished. A 10-foot line isn't much more expensive than a 5-foot line, so one might as well get one that allows some wiggle room. As of July 19, 2021 a 5-foot Eastman stainless steel line is $13.98 at Lowe's, and a 10-foot version is $16.98. I'll happily pay three bucks more for the 10-foot version. (Lowe's actually has a 1-foot version for $4.48, but I think that's just about useless for most installations.)

    Update: My local Lowe's was out of 10-foot lines, so I got a 5-footer; big mistake! My kitchen has a stub wall in front of the fridge, making it VERY difficult to get behind it. With a longer line I could have pivoted the fridge and rolled it sideways enough to clear the stub wall. As it was, I had to do some real contortions to get behind it, connect the line, and then (actually the hardest part) get out from behind it again. I should have gone to another store and got the 10-foot version, or just waited, but I was impatient in the hot weather we've been having.
