How to install a Superior Solutions adjustable vacuum switch for your 700R4 lockup torque converter

As we work toward looking after all the small details of this build, I want to show you how to install a Superior Solutions adjustable vacuum switch for your 700R4 lockup torque converter. We also get a look at the new Ridler wheels dad is installing on his 1936 Dodge.

    Absolutely. The 700R4 lockup is vacuum controlled. If you had a O/D button inside the Blazer it was only disrupting the power to this type of lockup switch and not running through a computer.

    Bought this switch to replace the broken GM Vac switch, but think mine is faulty. It's permanently normally closed. I thought how it worked was open circuit until it gets enough vacuum, then it switches to normally closed, circuit complete ,then lock up happens. Is this correct?

    You are correct. I guess I assumed, when making the video that folks would know that there was a wire coming from the transmission. On the 700R4, there is a 4 pin connector, and i believe it was the green wire that activated the lock-up. Hope this helps and/or clarifies.

    WHAT ABout when you apply brakes. Is the brake switch in the loop?

  • @OldeCarrGuy

    @OldeCarrGuy

    2 жыл бұрын

    No brake switch required. Because it is vacuum operated (adjustable), as soon as you take your foot off the gas, the vacuum closes the switch. as soon as you step on the gas and lose vacuum again, the converter will lockup. I hope I explained that ok.
