How to Install a Short Ram Intake for 96-00 Civic HX/EX/SI

This is a step by step installation instruction video for a short ram intake on a 96-00 Honda Civic HX/EX/SI. The car used in the video is a 2000 Honda Civic HX (D16Y5) and models may vary slightly. The intake being installed is an AEM short ram intake with a dryflow filter.
There are captions in the video to help with the instructions, and I have some background music to make it a little more interesting. I hope this helps all of you people out there who need a detailed step by step in video format. I ran into one issue and explained my solution during the install, probably a common issue with intake replacements in these model Civics.
If you have questions or comments, please leave below, I will try to answer any questions that I can. I think this video is very thorough and any amateur modder should be able to install their intake without any issues.
I am not sure where all of the bolts are to remove the stock resonator, just in case that question gets asked. This intake fit without needing the removal of the resonator, and I'm sure you could google and find a forum where someone had this question answered.
The pcv breather/vacuum hose I purchased is a 3/8" vacuum hose, $2.29 per foot = cheap, in case your intake did not come with a new hose.

What if my intake doesn't have a inlet temp censor port?
Quick question, I installed a cold air intake by Spectre, and it has a hole in the tube like you show in this video, but my stock tube didn't have anything running from the head to the tube. Should I just get a cover or do I need that pipe running into it?
Cameron, this air intake swap makes your car breathe easier. It won't do a whole lot for performance alone, but if you swap your exhaust out for one with bigger piping, or change your exhaust manifold to a header (HX, LX, DX), then your exhaust gas will be able to flow better LEAVING the engine. Then, it is a good idea since you upgraded one aspect of the car's breathing, to upgrade the other end and allow the car to breathe IN new air easier. It does make your engine sound throatier too.
ThEOnLyOne246, The only sensor I needed to bother with was the Inlet Air Temperature sensor, and had to unplug the Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor to install the new intake, but the MAP sensor is located on top of the intake manifold, so it's location did not move, simply the wiring harness back in after the new intake and IAT sensor were installed. Honestly I am not sure where the MAF sensor is on these civics, but it is not in the intake tubing. Assuming it is inside the intake manifold too?
the nipple cover they put on their is so that you can just put on a breather instead of putting the hose back on. either works. personally i like the breather filter better than the hose.

i have a extra tubing that not connecting that ran with stock breather. do i just cover that? the stuff thats not in use. i pluged the maf sensor and i did breathet connected from valve cover to intake. but not sure about the other stuff i have a 00 civic coupe d16

I got mine on Amazon. they had a warehouse deal and got mine for like $80 with the dryflow filter (one you never oil).

Not very much. But I did intake header and exhaust all at once so it is now pretty loud lol
did your check engine light turn?

Sorry so late! I got a headerback exhaust on amazon from DC Sport
why not put a breather filter on there too. it makes moving that flex pipe alot easier since it is not easily moved. after the breather filter is on there it isnt needed anyway. and it will look better with your air intake if you get a breather filter of same color.
What about the mass air flow sensor?

That's on the throttle body itself not the intake tube. The other sensor (IAC I believe) goes into a hole in the intake tubing it came with a rubber grommet for it
curious how to do the sensor

Sorry, the intake included a rubber grommet that fits in a hole in the intake (hole was already there) then just press in the sensor

That intake looks ugly.
All you Honda owners, you pay $ 200.00 to $ 400.00 and it makes no more HP than the stock intake, use a leaf blower and dyno it and you will achieve 8 more horsepower, all that money for what a painted piece of pipe, for a brand name??? nooooo. way brother. all the pipes taper down to the stock throttle body so you get no added HP because the throttle body allows in only so much air. research it and prove me wrong, because iam always right.
