I did this install yesterday and it works great plus looks awesome! I did the fender eliminator at the same time. There are a couple things I caution future buyers on: 1. Label your screws or you'll waste time scrubbing through the video upon reassembly. 2. It's really f*cking difficult to access and subsequently reinstall the screws where the rear plastic meets the front fairings. Having a flexible screwdriver extension makes it much easier. 3. Take your time pulling off the rear plastic side panels or you can break a tab. Get some double sided 3M foam tape if you do this. I know from prior experiences that the "permanent hold" indoor stuff is strong enough to hold things together without fusing the plastics together permanently like the automotive stuff. 4. When putting the rear side panels back together, it can be easier to remove the grommets from the plastic you pulled off and place them on the frame first. 5. This will DEFINITELY take you longer than 25 minutes. I was super annoyed once I realized this, as I had to cancel plans for later that day. Even the guy in the video takes longer than 25 minutes once you account for all the jump cuts and speed up video. Plan for 2 hours. It would still take me at least an hour even having done it before, because reassembly is finicky.

Thank you for the extra notes for prospective customers. I am sure that your experience can be helpful to others. As far as the time of installation goes, it is impossible to ascertain how long the average customer will take to complete the process. On video it took me longer than 25 minutes to go from start to finish simply because I had to think about the narration points, make them, and move my hands and tools in a way that the camera could capture the detail of the steps. Whevever I am just wrenching, especially on this bike, I can actually do this process much faster than 25 minutes. I do hav quite considerable experience with this particular bike so I would not cite my time as an average installation time.

Wow I've had this bike 3 weeks and just realized not only did it come with muffler slip on and fender eliminate from the previous owner but also has the TST tail light mod. Love the bike even more now.

Took me about 3 hours to do it as i couldn't figure out how to put together the adjustable license plate brackets. They were all broken down in small parts and i suck at legos. so when wife got home....it took her 10 seconds to tell me how they go together and that took most of my time and ALSO the CUTTING part was a little difficult. Probably because i did not want my fender to have blade cut marks(still managed 2 very small cuts). So those two things probably took most of the time. Now my 2019 ninja looks like a ninja and not some ugly fender hanging bike. If it wasn't raining right now in Chicago, i would be riding it to show off my new fender and tail light lol *Thank you TST industries as this video helped me a LOT.* PS: Go easy on the sides as i broke the inside small hinge that slides in, but it still looks great and doesn't do much of a difference.

I love the smoked with the black color, I got the clear in the garage sale, but man I almost want to swap it and just pay the premium because this is beautiful!!

Finally got around to installing pretty much everything, tail light, turn signals. Plate light and the minimal plate bracket. Everything went great until I realized I was missing the rear tail light bracket. Should arrive this week. Over all the quality of the lights is great. The videos, enormously helpful!

Hey Bart. Just wanted to say thank you sir for this video. Without it, there is no way I could have installed this without breaking something or wasting a bunch of time. I ended up breaking one of those locking tabs on one of the side tails but I was able to super glue it and restore it no problem. The light looks amazing and now the install is so much cleaner. Thank you guys for making this product. I am very pleased with the brightness and the look.

Thanks for this video. Though I purchased my taillight from a different company for aesthetics reasons. I was able to use this to get the breakdown procedure to get the taillight out and the new one in.

LOVE the flashing 3 times before brake lights and it fits better than the OEM and looks way way way cooler. NO i did not get paid by tst to say this hahaha i am just in love with their tail light.

Just look up the steps in the disassembly portion for more detail. We always go a bit faster in the reassembly since we document all the disassembly steps so carefully.

If anyone is wondering how to install the license plate light to the new taillight. Black is Negative (Ground) Blue is Positive. Had this issue. Good buy looks great.

Good thing you mentioned about the little fairing slot. I unfortunately cracked one but the other came out after I failed my first attempt on the other fender. I’m super upset at myself tho but I should have secured the end so that when I pry off the last grommet, that little tip woulda been safe from snapping. And UNBELIEVEABLE that Kawasaki made SUCH a small and fragile piece for that ☹️☹️☹️ but I LOVE this tail light!

How does the Tail/Brake light brightness compare to OEM in the smoked version? I had a smoked tail light on my ZX12 and it really cut down on the light output..

We do not produce a ZX12 tail light so that one wouldn't have been ours. We have not done photometry of this tail light yet so I can't quantify the output to you. In the design of our tail lights one of the main goals is to make the running and brake light as bright as the OEM system in the smoked lens version. The clear version is brighter yet because there is no attenuation from lens tint. To the naked eye, and to the camera sensors we used to do video and photos of our lights, the brightness of the smoked version and the OE light seem very similar. If you are worried about output though, I would steer you in the direction of the clear. If you want to compare yourself then you can see the two installation videos we made. Smoked was installed on Ninja 400 and the clear on ZX10R. We have lit action shots in both that should show you both OE light brightness and ours. I hope this helps.

Reassembling the rear was by far the hardest part, I busted both clips on the back side panels but no worries some double sided 3m tape will fix it, my advice just take the fairings off. Other then that just took me about 2 hours. LABEL YOUR SCREWS

These tails look great. I had a question about the bike itself though. I’m getting into bikes and i know i want to pick up a Ninja 400 as my starter but I want this black color way. I was wondering if the color of you bike is factory and if so what is it because i can’t find anything like it. If not did you get it repainted or is it a new Fairing kit.

That was a 2018 model and this was it's stock color. Repainting fairings is not cheap. At least if you want it done correctly. I would discourage that plan. If you have settled on the 400 and must have black, then find a 2018 bike

If you do not already have an LED flasher relay installed then you will likely need one for proper flash rate of the signals.

The signals will flash faster than normal if you do not use the relay. If you want to slow it down to the standard 85c/min the relay will be needed . If you leave it flashing faster and want to use the sequential pattern for signals then the sequence of each flash will not complete in the shortened cycle of each blink.

All the connections are plug and play so there should be no confusion. Please watch the video carefully and you should be good to go. We also have a Y-Splitter video so you can reference that also.

When I don't have to yap at the camera and stand in awkward poses to show steps in video this install takes me 15 minutes. This is of course because I have ripped this bike apart and built it back many times...like many, many times. I actually had the frame separated from everything else for race modifications, and then built it back up. So if it takes you a half hour I would consider that pretty fast. The key is to watch the video through a few times and understand all the steps. Then you get to work and it is really easy. As to the brightness....I am biased because I designed this light so I will just wait for you to comment on that. I hope to get your feedback.

If I do the taillight first, I don't have to remove anything other than the back seat for the fender eliminator, do i? Or should I wait and do them both at once?

@@TSTindustries Well... i probably spent more time fishing screws out of the bike than anything, but i eventually got it on an boy am I pleased. I was very careful to repeatedly watch your video and paid attention to how you minimized the gaps, but i still have some minor ones (no more than I see in your thumbnail above). Doesn't bother me at all. This thing is bright AF and looks SICK. SO nice to be rid of that OEM monstrosity that came with it. Rock solid product, and your videos were so easy to follow that even an idiot like me can do it!!

The bike's signaling system uses one relay to control the flash rate. Our replacement relay is included in the Hyperpack bundle.

Those are Techspec and we do have them in stock. We use them on all our race bikes. We even helped design some models of them because we work closely with the company that manufactures them.

We would highly recommend purchasing our LED Flasher Relay if you don't already have one installed. If you're an International customer we would recommend locating and comparing your OEM flasher relay to the unit we sell to make sure the plug type and pin configuration is the same.

This typically yields a 1-5 day transit time beyond the processing day, that being within the con USA, and no weather delays, etc. If something is out of stock we don't provide estimated ship dates, we just don't take the order until back in stock. No system of ours would have quoted several months in shipping.

We had a 2023 in the shop last week. Even though we did not install one of these lights on that bike we visually inspected the physical shape of the light and connectors. We concluded that the light is compatible with the 2023 model of the Ninja 400

We offer three different levels of fender eliminator. The basic one is just a license plate holder and costs twenty five bucks. If at some point you decide that you want the next level, nicer solution then you can just purchase the closeout component and upgrade your setup to the Elite-1 level without buying an entire new setup. The signal functions take current from signaling/hazard circuit. The tail light does not distinguish between hazard and signal input, just like your OEM signals do not. If you have a hazaard function on your bike then the tail light will flash both amber circuits, left and right, when the hazard light switch is turned on.

Are these street legal in California? I know they are picky with the distance in between blinkers.

Most likely not. You can check your local laws to make sure. We do sell Y-splitter harnesses that enable plugging in two sets of signals so you can retain your OEM signals alongside the tail light.

@@nammmers there are no changes from 2018 to 2021. Maybe the signal connectors are different but that will be still same connector location just with different plugs.

You can always use it as a tail light / running light only by leaving the turn signals disconnected.

You could get defected for this in Australia, which is madness. I had a similar unit on my Ninja and was defected for it, plus the cop added the lack of a rear reflector as a bonus, smh. Something about the spacing between left and right indicators needing to be a certain minimum distance apart to be easily discernible to other drivers.

Hey mate late reply I know but I just got a ninja 400 myself and was looking to buy this but still using the OEM rear turn signals. Were you defected due to the lights being blacked-out or just the turn signals being too close?
