Broken 2 of those pitman arm pullers on my 96 Cherokee. Took a 4 inch grinder and a zip disk put a relief cut a bur half way through it one hit of a hammer and it fell on the floor. Total time less than 45 seconds to remove the pitman arm. There is a video on how to remove a pitman arm in less than a minute. Worth the watch. Nice yj bye the way.

After you tighten the pitman arm, put a breaker bar and a socket on it and use some grunt to tighten a bit more. Big tires can add extra force and the pitman arm can come loose. This goes for all vehicles with this style gearbox.

The first time I changed my pitman arm seal with the first time I think it was ever removed since it was manufactured and that pitman arm tool I got on loan from AutoZone literally bent and broke I had to get there extra heavy duty multiple adjustable $100 to buy or rent and bring it back and get your money back but if it's the first time I'm thinking you might need that heavier duty pitman arm puller if you don't have all the other mechanics grade tools if you're a do-it-yourselfer like me

Have you ever installed power steering into a manual steering set up? I have an 89 YJ with manual and want to add power for my wife. Is it just a matter of getting a power steering box and pump/lines? Plus the brackets I imagine. Great video, I like your style, subbed.

Man your xj is much cleaner than mine. But I just got it yesterday for 1300. I'm an auto tech for the last 21 years and iono who did what but the jeep only turns maybe half way to the left. I know the steering column needs to be replaced. I don't think it came with telescopic options in 2000 lol. She needs a lot of work but I got that covered. Just wondering if y'all have ran across this issue.

won't turn far enough to one side is usually the drag link adjuster. The previous owner may have straightened the wheel at the top, instead of at the drag link. Otherwise, check for bent frame at the steering box or bent drag link or track bar. Also, the stock hollow 3/4" tie rod is notoriously weak. New heavier cast tie rod with adjuster and driver's side TRE from a ZJ is a direct swap.

@@ingluv they had installed a small lift and didn't do anything with h track bar. I put in my Rubicon express one yesterday. Centered the front axle by eye and took it to get the inspection insurance and tags. Next I'll drive it home to install the lift and the rest of the parts

@@autotek7930 Weird. Mine is lifted about 3", maybe 4". Stock tie rod in stock position. Front axle only about 3/8" off center and steering wheel is centered without bump steer or death wobble. No steering stabilizer (wrecked it when the tie rod bent) or any sway bars. It does really well for what it is.

@@ingluv this axle was off center by about 3 inches so it couldn't turn ask the way left due to that. The new track bar is adjustable so no more worries... now I just need to install the 4.5 in lift. Steering column. Radiator rf window regulator and a few other things. Hopefully next weekend if I'm recovered from covid I'll get that done. I finally get to go back to work Monday

@@autotek7930 I'm betting the old track bar was bent or the frame end mount for it. Even an 8" lift shouldn't pull it 3" off center
