I know it’s an old video and you may not respond anymore, but I just want to say thank you! Instructions on PAC’s manual is very confusing, and I just can’t understand how to remap buttons. Your video has greatly helped me understand the process, thank you!
Dude. You're awesome. You helped me finish the upgrade on my wife's subaru which I started almost 2 years ago :-)... She couldn't be happier with her stereo now. Thank you!
Man. I watch A LOT of videos on how to do stuff.. and watching a seasoned pro do a video blew my mind. just the organizational tips alone!!
These are notorious for being a PITA and you did it very well.
Thank you teacher you are the best
Oh man thank you so much for this video! You made this task so much easier for me I would have been overwhelmed by all the steps involved in proper installation of this controller. My steering wheel buttons work just the way I want them. You made the complex go so smooth. Thanks again!

thanks so much, I did all that, dial on 7, blinking 8 times, I am afraid my cables are not propertly correct, according to the instructions, I only have to wire 4 cables negative , positive , and whites, , thanks for the links bro! , you guys awesome!
Nice video! And you are VERY quick with your hands. I was just following along saying... "I would've dropped that... not caught that... and that..."

Got that installed. works great with my factory controls
This video made this install so much easier. Directions on the product need some TLC.
Great video...way better then trying to decipher the instructions. I just wish i had watched this before I just soldered the wiring harness all together. Did that yesterday and got the SWI-RC today...oh well. Guess it's just a couple wires.

watched the video again more closely. The version is what you set at the beginning of programming. Press and hold - turn on key - then press program button the number of times for the version you are programming. It will flash to confirm programming version. Thanks
Man, this helped a lot!!
thank you ,really helpful video .worked like a charm after these instructions.

I Have a Lexus Xr330 2006 and i wish to know what harness is the correct to install a double din radio , and also my oem radio does have only two plugs in the back , but im not certain that i have an amplifier from factory , and which harness do you recommend for steering wheel control? Appreciate your time in making the videos, lot of good information, Thanks
Great video, I just installed the pac sw1 r1 for my 07 tacoma. I did steering swap from 21 tacoma. But when I tried to go through the steps to program the interface, it doesn't work. The led doesn't blink 8 times. Any advice, thanks
thank you for answering my question
Hello, love your videos and they are great help. I was wondering if you could answer something for me. I am about to install a double din with the same pac audio unit and the car has factory mic. do I need to install a new mic to the double din or would the factory mic still be retained?
Thanks 👌 You guys are awesome 💪 👏 ✌️ 👊 😊 🙏 💯%✔️
In programming mode I have a button that performs two functions, so do I program the button twice to do both functions?
What if you buy one already pre harnessed ? Do you still need to program it?
Liked the blooper for sure. LMAO! You do very clean work my Man, great video.

If the steering wheel uses the same button for voice activation and to answer calls, will the PAC be able to program both functions into the same button?
@traviss6564

You'll most likely have to pick which function is more important to you or re-route one of them to another button.
Hi. Thank you for this video. I am currently installing a soundstream dvd/nav system. I am using PAC products to install into a 2009 Cadillac DTS. I'm sure the products will work with the car. But unsure of what to use as far as the brand of radio goes since PAC doesn't list soundstream. Have you worked with soundstream before? I got the radio going but not the swc. Please let me know if you have some tips. Thanks.
Hi I am trying to "program the version" for my 2014 Isuzu d-max (in Australia) I've set the switch to position 4 to suit the Clarion head unit. But I'm struggling to find where the chart is saying what programming version should be selected for my assembly. Any idea where I could find that info? The Pac website lacks my vehicle. Otherwise your video is very helpful thank you.

Great video thanks! I have to ask though, is it necessary to cut factory wires? Couldn't you find the corresponding wires on the "metra" harness? Or will those pins be blank?
@FiveStarCarStereoInc

The pins are usually blank or in the case of this install in a totally different plug.
this help me program mine thanks!!
Hi i have a pioneer deck i have been connecting all the blue together i thought is was the remote power wire so i don't need to use this? meaning the blue yellow? this might be why the radio keeps going into ATT warning mode
Do I need a harness for this because I’m seeing people say to also get rp4-frd11
Great video , great lighting and audio , I was a little scared of doing his but not no more , lol thanks . Let me know if you have a video for eliminating factory amp and replacing it with an after market amp (I have a 02 Pontiac Aztec 14 speaker setup )

Where did you plug the AUX cable from the pac into?
@traviss6564
4 жыл бұрын
It's not an AUX cable, that 3.5mm cable plugs in to the back of the head unit and sends all the remote signals from the box after they arrive from the steering wheel controls.

My jvc doesn't have 3.5mm input . Would this still work for me.
I followed the steps and it works great!! But after a few minutes goes by it looses programming and the buttons don’t work properly.. do I have a faulty module?????
Nice job
I asked this question in general discussion but, I decided to ask it here as well maybe here is more relevant, Question, Is the Scosche TA07SRC a good alternative to the PAC TATO in my 2004 Prius with JBL digital amp along with the PAC SWI-RC? is this a good combo?
What is the blue box? Where can I get it from to programm the aftermarket buttons?
I am assuming that if the same button is used for two functions that you just use it twice in the programming sequence. For example, the instructions reference Preset Up/Disc Up and Track Up/Seek Up. My vehicle (2005 Tacoma) will use the same button for both, depending upon the source.
@FiveStarCarStereoInc

Kenneth Southard this RC only will do one function per button. If you want to do 2 you will need the SWC cp2.
What about a blaupunkt Portland 310NAV that has two wires for steering wheel interface can you give some information on installation with this one
Recently got an aftermarket stereo with this swi. But I have issue programming it. During the individual button programming, I turned on the key, it flashed the correct program, I hold the Program Button until lights up and hold volume button until the LED goes out, but when I release the volume button, the LED never goes back on. I connected the ground (black) wire with the ground on the stereo. Is it the reason? or is there something else I should be considering?
Hi, Thanks this video is great, but have a question. I have a skoda superb 2011 (like Passat) the data sheet points me to use can interface for wiring instructions, I have the vw-ss-01 but I could not find any data on it for the wiring. Please advise Many thanks
Why can't you connect the rest of the wires to the aftermarket connecting harness? Does it have to be the factory harness?
Hi there I have a tacoma. I just watched this video and am a little confused. On note #267, it says connect the INTERFACE's White/Black wire to Pin 22 (Yellow/ Black) of the vehicle connector. But in the video as you were reading the wiring instructions, you said and wrote down to connect Pin 22 (Yellow/ Black) to the interface's (White/ Red). Im not sure where you are getting the white/ red from, cause it clearly says White/ Black in my instructions ?
nice video, you made it look "easy"...question; what type of tape are you using? It looks like a mesh tape...is it or is it just standard electrical tape? I just picked up one of these and a JVC for my pathfinder. Edit: I discovered the paper VIIG instructions included w/ the device were different than the instructions provided online. The online instructions provided extra information that saved me from having to install the resistors. So, double check online before trusting the paper VIIG instructions. Mine were printed in 2013. Thanks again.

I have a 13 tacoma access cab, and android phone does that radio also support android auto, big fan of pioneer and you as well.
Got a 2003 H2 installing an aftermarket Autofather CD DVD Stereo with steering wheel control etc. Using a PAC RP5 GM-11 interface and wiring harness adapter. Problem is the new Headunit harness has a Grey SW1 wire a Green SWC2 wire and a SWC black wire BUT the PAC has only a 3.5 mm jack option vs 1 Blue/Yellow wire. How do I connect this setup???
I have install a Pioneer sph-da120 in my car, but i ain't got the multifunction steering wheel. Can you recommend any universal wireless remote control, and maybe how it's setup
I just bought a sound stream vrcp-65 and was wondering if this would work with that head unit
Hey do you have any steering wheel control to work on pioneer x4700bs that I can get on amazon? Please do a vid on what is needed for install

for stereos pioneer nothing is needed, the only thing required is to program it directly to the stereo.
How do you hook that up to a Blaupunkt Denver BP799
will this work with android radios? I know I will need the adapter but not sure with what interface?
Is Pioneer AVH-X390BS and SWI-RC together compatible with a 1989 Trans Am GTA????
Hello. Thank`s for your video. I installed Pioneer to Chevy Trailblazer 2006 with PAC RP4-GM11. And I believe wiring was made proper by pro installers. But when it went to button mapping something went wrong. I did all the steps exactly the way you show in your video. Neither default mapping was right nor the programming attempt helped to solve the issue. I the end of the day i draw my Chevy away with total mess at steering wheel butеons: my Mute is missing preset - is the only button and it is on source select button track+ is on preset- and this is it. I would greatly appreciate if you give me an idea on how to fix this.
Just an FYI. The pac interface has been changed or updated. I had the original one and it burned out so I thought I could use the same wires but, it’s completely different. There’s now multiple switches, 2 plugs, and even a mini usb port.
Had a shop install this on a 2011 Camry SE non amplified with a Kenwood DDX9703 and the answer call, hang up and voice activation isn't working should these functions work. Do I need to take it back to them to reprogram. Thanks.
what are the versions about and what difference do they make. I have a 05 honda pilot at is has 2 versions (version 3 and 9). 3 doesn't require cutting purple loop. 9 does. What's the difference or does it matter?
I assumed (Gray) it's wire white and black? and thanks for the answer!
Hey man. I got this installed along with a kenwood stereo in my Honda Pilot. The steering wheel controls works sometimes and at other times they don’t. Any idea why this would happening? Thanks
Hi, I got a problem, I program successfully the SWI-RC, it works for some minutes and then stop working, then I have to shut down the car and then start it again and then the SWI-RC works good for some minutes until it stop working again. Any ideas? It is a Honda CR-V 2012.
How do I install PAC SWI-CP2 Steering Wheel Control Adapter to a Pioneer AVH-4100NEX then to a 2010 F-150 4X2 supercrew?
What do i do with the blue/yellow wire and black wire if using a Kenwood Radio Double Din?
Awesome video, you can tell you’ve been doing this for a long time. However what were the resistors for? Did I miss that part?

They are required for certain vehicle/stereo combinations, the instructions detail when and where to use them.
The previous owner of my car put in an aftermarket stereo but chose not to integrate the steering wheel controls. My parents could not understand why I wanted to get those back so badly. They said, “just look over at your phone (mounted on a windshield mount) but that’s precisely what I’m trying to avoid-gotta keep my eyes on the road
I’m having a heck of a time finding the SWI control wires from my steering wheel. I have a 2007 civic EX! Help!! I can’t find them :-/ any help is appreciated.

Kevin oconnell you can't add new buttons. You would have to replace the steering wheel
So, total noob... there are actually two black wires (ground) coming out of the PAC adapter. Do both of those get tied into the aftermarket stereo harness?? Or, does one go to the stereo harness and one to the car-side harness? One to the chassis??
Hi, I have a 2006 4runner. and when trying to connect to the pins my 4runner doesn't have pin 6 and pin 7 to connect to. Do you know what I could do.

140VM you connected the white, white black and both blacks and the red www.pac-audio.com/SWI/SWIAppGuide.aspx?appguideid=301&swiModel=Prius&swiYear=2005&swiMake=Toyota&swiProduct=SWI-RC&swiRadioManu=Pioneer&swiOptions=
We should never cut off seemingly unnecessary wires from the wiring harness kit, because there could be mistakes in the instructions, such as the colours may be listed incorrect (it does happen). I just tape them to the side. They hardly take up any room, and it means the same wiring harness can be re-used if the person wishes to use the radio in a different vehicle, in the future. If the new wiring harness is made correctly, then it shouldn't be necessary to strip any insulation from the vehicle's original wiring. After all, the pins are right there in the plug, so they should be getting used.
Any idea on how to do it for a Nissan Leaf? It's got a Bluetooth Control Unit in back on the side of the trunk of the car.
