How to install a new RV Dump Station and Connect it to Your Home's ABS Sewer Line

Simple "how to" video for installing a new RV dump station by connecting it to your home sewer line. This video is also useful for anyone adding any kind of extension to an existing ABS sewer line. Total cost of this project was about $50.
Adding an RV Dump Station at home enables me to use the RV as guest quarters, and we can also use our RV as a quarantine zone if needed during the pandemic.

    Doesn't he need a vent close to the connection? I want to do the same to my house

    @vitodunmire6415 all plumbing fixture drains require vents and there are requirements for how long a "trap arm" can be based on drain size

    So how long can it be and how do you add vent?

    @@vitodunmire6415 to be honest, in this situation, if legal at all in your jurisdiction, probably wouldn't require a vent. But I think the trap arm length for 3" pipe is 6'.

    General rule when pitching waste pipe, it should pitch a 1/4 inch per foot. On a level, that is the line past the level line. The edge of bubble should just touch that. They make levels to show the correct pitch. If you pitch the pipe too much, the water will leave the paper and waste behind, causing a blockage over time. I admire your bravery in getting the job done and for the most part you got it done right. On a good note, you had the forethought to prevent getting flush in your face!🤣😂🙂

    My husband added a clean out but had to dig to locate the 4 inch pipe. Cut the pipe with a saber saw and used the same fittings you used. Pretty easy. Works great!

    Hi. I'm proud for you planning a wise investment. May I just say as an investor/landlord/homeowner...I have used Carleton Sheets program to buy property no money down. I paid for the course 30yrs ago and it's been gold and I'm no way affiliated with them...now most of his course is available on youtube for free. You CAN buy property no CASH down (using promissory notes, etc) but the real benefit is writing the contract...i.e. lower the payment and RAISE the interest rate you buy as a seller to the maximum usuary rate of your state. You can deduct the interest...program explains it and it's NOT difficult at all. If I did it anybody can. Good Luck.

    So practical and concise. Thanks so much for sharing! My issue is our RV septic attachment is on the driver's side and the house is on the passenger side. We would need to go under the driveway to set up. When at home it is use the house facilities or chamber pot if necessary.

    Do you mind considering videos about the shelf above the bed if in fact you made it. Also, I would like to know where you bought the reading light and how you attached. Would you consider making a video showing how to put the sealant around the windows and on the roof as well? I noticed you turned your dinette into a work station table top. Would you consider showing a video on how you did that? Thank you if you can do any of these instructional videos. I love your videos. My 180 is a 2017 and I would like to modify some things and you have great ideas and explain things exceptionally well! Thanks again,

    Why didn’t you put a trap in the line so you don’t get fumes out of the dump station?

  • @robertsupino4266

    I believe he had screw in cover, that is better because all you will have in the trap is paper and poop which will eventually will dry up and plug your trap. I believe that will stink just as bad. A ball valve will be best if you are concerned about gas or easily access without unscrewing cover. Still need to cover the opening to keep bugs out.

    If you are using chemicals in your black RV tank, you're not supposed to dump into a residential sewer system. It destroys the natural bacteria that the system needs to function properly.

  • @LilyWillow22

    @LilyWillow22

    Pretty sure that would be a concern if the house was on septic and normally your RV does not have chemicals added to the black/gray tanks that are not biodegradable and septic safe

  • @josephvanas6352

    @josephvanas6352

    @@LilyWillow22 Well basically wastewater treatment plants do the same thing but due to dilution it isnt a big problem unless the chemical is really toxic and those are usually illegal to dump either way. Just think of all the people using draino or dumping bleach and water down drains when cleaning things. Public sewer systems are designed with that in mind and the waste water plant is too.
