Great video as usual! You could add a ground switch to the tach terminal on the coil to kill the spark too. Personally, I'd do the armored cover to the column no matter what else you do so the dirtbags don't get the chance to break the column. My 87 442 almost got stolen once and it was a pain having to pull the column apart to replace the broken pieces, get them painted to match, and all that. Far better to not give them the chance to break the column in the first place in my opinion.

I've used a window contact & magnet from a home alarm system for a kill switch. Wire the contact, mount it behind the dash and place the magnet over the contact to close the circuit. I found using a earth magnet works better due to a thick metal dash.

Cruise control set switch is on or off, basically monetary. If it goes to ground, use it to turn on a relay, completing the crank circuit or HEI power circuit. If using two relays, shuts of both. Left hand index finger on the “Set” cruise switch, while using the right hand to turn the key and start. ASE Master Tech since 1978 - Retired

There are screws behind caps at the pull strap, screws that hold the arm rest on and once the arm rest is removed there are two large screws behind that. You then pull the lower panel off, its held on with plastic push clips and then remove the upper. The upper is also hooked it at the top of the door. Hope this helps.

Great video. I'll definitely be installing one of these in my A-Body. I just bought a 1980 Buick Regal and the passenger side window is stuck halfway down. It rolls down about a quarter of the way down, but won't go all the way down or all the way up. How do I PROPERLY remove the door panel? I just thought I'd ask, I don't want to break the panel and have shit hanging.

Make sure the wire harness is attached to the dash before you put it back in and leave the gauge cluster and glove box out of it. Also it is easiest if you have the steering column out.

Thank you..Just ran all the wiring on my 69 Elco restoration. Know exactly which wires to splice. Going with the purple wire, with a hidden kill switch. Just a foot note...went ahead and switched out the original 69 highlight switch and the column directional switch. Had lots of issues with connections. Replace them...they were corroded and worn out... not that expensive and you will have peace of mind ...down the road. Also rebuilt the the fuse box with new fuse connectors...got connectors from NPD.

Thanks! I got it off. Would you happen to know anything about my problem? The widow motor seems to work fine. The window has about four to five inches of normal functionality, but when I reach certain points in the up and down position the window halts and begins to make a loud grinding noise. There is no corrosion, the car is rust-free for the most part. Again, the motor does seem to work. Any suggestions?

If you have replaced the mechanical fuel pump with an electric unit you can also wire a kill switch to this type of pump. What I would like to know is, can the steering column be disassembled to the point where one could machine a sleeve out of steel pipe and fit it in place of the "pot metal" shroud that shields this linkage? I once owned a 1978 Cutlass Slant Back that was originally fitted with an early GM Diesel engine which blew out. I replaced it with a Rocket 350 out of a '73 olds. Everything bolted up just fine and I kept the diesel starter which made winter starting a breeze. Only problem was that the vehicle was marked Diesel Only at the filler cap and I erased the label. I always pumped regular leaded fuel in it but was always hassled by the attendants saying it was illegal to put leaded fuel in a '78. I explained that it was equipped with a '73 engine which took leaded fuel only and it had no cat underneath.
