    You saved me! I’ve never installed a rectangle light before and when I took it out of the box and saw the 8” mounting strap (whatever it’s called) I panicked 😂 I had absolutely no idea if it was supposed to be screwed into the ceiling or put up in the ceiling and after HOURS of Google not having a clue what I was asking, I took my issue to KZread. Thankfully your video came up 1st and after a couple minutes I regained my confidence that it’s installed basically the same as every other light with the round mounting plate to the junction box and the strap to the fixture. I cannot thank you enough for this clear & concise answer to my unnecessarily overly complicated question 😂😂🙏💙

    Re electric 'cap' aka twist-on wire connectors @4:37 you should absolutely make it tight, until the wires outside start twisting too. You don't want those caps coming off

    My new light needs to be shifted to be centered over the table. Can you mount the bracket to the ceiling (maybe with toggle bolts) rather than attaching to the light receptacle in the ceiling?

  • @PIMPSTA951

    Is that mounting bracket use for sliding the light over to the left and right? I need the light over to the side by 4"

    You're a very good teacher; only recommendation--actually show you pushing the electrical wires back up into the box, because I don't know if they need to go inside the junction box, behind just the base plate, etc. Newbies are going to be watching your video and we need every detail demonstrated. Thanks, again, for an excellent video!

    I hung up a 5 pendalent light. Im worried with it being held with just 2 screws on the plate the light is too heavy since they dangle and move alot. Will the 2 screws hold down a 23lb light fine?

    1:09 I dont blame him for putting a heavy duty lock hook on thier some of those chains are flismy as hell. I had a cast iron one put up where i was & after about a year later i noticed it swaying every so often so i looked up & the chains pieces were pulling apart over time. It was a heavy duty chain too. But thankfully you can get lock hooks in almost any size & color. I ended up switching it with the one you have because the wife wanted it.. I prefer the cast iron but hey. It is what it is. Hawwah Great Spirit Bless. Also someone painted the black wire white but i tested it & black was still hot so it was pretty wierd.

    (see wrong) is the way you twist the wire is backwards. You twisted the ground correctly clockwise

    There should be a green screw that you can attach the ground from the ceiling to the fixture, if not you just wire as is.

    Why do you tighten the wire caps the opposite direction the wires were twisted? Doesn’t that untwist the wire tips underneath the cap? Shouldn’t you twist it same direction? Genuinely curious.

    Don't trust that your power is off because you tripped the breaker. Those boxes are often mislabled, or they may be malfunctioning. Always use a multimeter to be absolutely sure your wires are not hot before you go poking around in the wall or ceiling boxes.

    If your wires are too long, would you cut them to fit?

  • @beefmaster_james

    @beefmaster_james

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes you can cut them, but try bending or folding them first when pushing them in the ceiling. It’s good to have extra slack wire if you replace the light again. Just make sure there is no exposed metal from cuts or nicks in the extra wire that isn’t being used.

    Bruh 😭 I'm doing the opposite, we have a modern chandelier in my room , but my room has Victorian styled furniture with those curtain drapes , thus the modern chandelier isn't suiting much , therefore I recently got a victorian chandelier, it almost looks like this

    Actually, the switch will cut off the current from the light because the light turns off. If you are by yourself and no one will turn on the switch you're fine.

    Unless you're in an old house with loop wired light fixtures like mine. In that case theres always a hot wire at the fixture even with the switch off. Learned the hard way.
