A number of points to consider before doing this. 1. Check for electrical cables or pipes behind walls and ceilings. 2. Use special fixing if there are no supports behind the plasterboard on the walls or ceiling. 3. If you are doing this before the plasterboard is in place put timber supports between studs in the wall and joists in the ceiling. This wall is not tiled or waterproofed. If tiling fit curtain rail after fitting other waterproof material.

What kind of anchors did you use for the shower rod support? The ones I find for drywall all say "not for overhead use."

Ideally, this would be screwed into a joist, but ceiling specific anchors are available at your local hardware store. You may see them listed as 'contractor strength.'

What's the best way to gauge what size drill bit to use- for the anchors? What's a good rule of thumb? how much smaller than the anchor diameter should the hole be?

What is the name of the tube that holds the curtain rod? How do I ask at the hardware store?
