In previous videos, I’ve demonstrated how to install roof rails and cross bars on this Odyssey.

Thank God you said something...hope you're not speaking from experience. Even though I did that ONCE with a Christmas tree strapped to the roof (result: swearing dad, a few torn branches and 3 crying children), I didn't think about that with the Thule! Along with that goes don't install it inside the garage even if it's raining out... One 👍 for the video and another 👍 for your warning!

This is why it’s important to like videos. Had I seen this sooner it would have saved me a lot of time. I just needed to see two videos - one that explained how much space these cargo carriers can hold not in numbers but in actual suitcases and typical stuff people carry on road trips. It also showed how to load cargo from the rear with these types of configuration. The second one is this which answered every question on how to install it even if the holes don’t line up. Thank you for taking the time, and thank your friend for being a prop/supporting actor.

If you keep this long term and have problems with the top bending when you try to close it you can add some bar stock to the inside where the hinges and struts attach to stop it from bowing out. I went from Texas to California and back this summer with one of these, and it really wasn't too bad. Have a good trip and watch for those side winds.

After watching all the time he spent on just mounting that box onto the rack, I really appreciate the quick-release memory clamps on my INNO cargo box. Yeah the box cost me $600, but it's shiny black and looks stylish, lol. It also came in quite handy with 4 people and 2 weeks worth of luggage, all the way down Route 66 from Chicago to the Grand Canyon and up the California coast..(17 SiennaSE) I couldn't even tell it was on the roof most times, even through windy mountain passes in Arizona and California, due to the low profile. But honestly they're great to have that little extra room so you don't have to pack the inside of your vehicle to the roof and block your rear view . Thumbs up on your purchase👍Eric.

I have for years now felt that you need to do more of these type videos and less of the "engine, transmission, diff, oil change, tires" lineup. I say this as one of the best things to take away from watching ETCG1 were your tips on how to navigate the Dealership system. Men need to realize that you will be asked to do this kind of work in the shop. The amount of needed heavy line work has decreased or when needed the manufacture handles it (I never saw any reason to become competent in the repair of today's automatic transmissions as the manufactures do not want dealership mechanics doing automatic rebuilds). This is quite a change as i remember as late as 2000 when i was at a chevrolet delership we had 5 heavy line mechanics (out of a total of about 32 mechanics). About your burnout Eric. I have always had the felling that if you were good enough to get really good as a Dealership mechanic you would only stay in the field long enough to realize you can do many other things that make you more money. Of course not all the "great mechanics" move on but there has been no compromise or refinefent of the flat-rate pay system, people are tired of being told "if you want to make more money then come in earlier, stay later and work weekends and holidays". Then there are those tool purchases that can ruin the field for guys that do not put the brakes on spending for tools. Tool purchases must be better compensated for by your employer. I specialized in light line, AC, electrical and accessories sold by new car sales. When I would see all there was to be dispatched to me was a tire repair I would clock out. I have no desire at this point in my carrer to do even one more oil change or flat tire repair. I trained too long and hard to get that type of crap dispatched to me. Dispatch me the electrical problem that the independent has given up on and sent to the dealership but keep those flat repairs for the hourly mechanics. I accept I could be missing an upsale but iI never really liked brake jobs anyway (unless it is a BMW, worlds easiest car to do brakes on)

i like the captive nuts in plastic handles, the same idea that's used on push lawn mowers. They could have applied sticky labels inside the box with all the markings for the common models, so you can drill holes only where you need to. No bodgy bits of sticky to cover holes you don't want. Just my opinion.
