    And remember, if Disk Utility is not letting you resize or add a partition, go to Time Machine preferences and turn off "Back up Automatically". Wait a little while for these to be deleted, then make your partition. After finishing the expansion process on the Windows side, go back to the Mac side and turn Time Machine backups back on. Thanks for the video!

    I hit this hurdle too. Wish I had seen your post first but a quick Google search also uncovered what I needed to do. :) This was my story : Because I had used Time Machine to backup my Mac partition to an external hard drive before commencing this procedure, I must have clicked on the Back Up Automatically option without realising. Time Machine started creating "snapshots" on the Mac drive itself which appears to have reserved the entire drive space. The resolution is to firstly untick 'Back Up Automatically' so that Time Machine no longer creates any local snapshots and then list and delete the snapshots that have been created. Do this as follows : - Launch Terminal - Type: tmutil listlocalsnapshots / You will see the snapshots taken with date and time stamps. I had three. - Type: tmutil deletelocalsnapshots 20xx-xx-xx-xxxxxx

    DIVYESH SAHOO I can try my best! But followed the guide completely. Make sure to back everything up! My issue was that the error said it failed, but it ended up working. Worst case scenario, you can delete everything and start again. Maybe someone else who’s better at this than me could help too! You need the mini partition tool that the video mentions for it to work! Basically, on your Mac, create a new partition for the extra size you want for windows. Then, reboot into windows. Run the partition tool, and delete this new partition size (it should show up as “other” in the partition tool. Then, resize your current boot camp/windows to completely take over the new partition (now called “unallocated space). You should end up: original bootcamp size + new partition = total new size

    This worked (thank you, John), but there were some things that came up along the way. In case this happens to someone else: 1) At 1:25, where he asks you to click on the '+' button to create a new partition in Disk Utility, the '+' button might be disabled. In order to enable this, you'll have to delete your local TimeMachine (backup) snapshots. It's a weird workaround, but it's the only way to enable that '+' button. If you don't know how to delete those local snapshots, Google it, or comment here and I'll help you out. 2) At 3:13, where the Mac restarts to apply the changes after you expand your BOOTCAMP partition to take up the unallocated space, the operation might fail. Mine certainly did. The screen asked me to hit any key to restart when it failed, but that didn't work. I had to manually reboot using the Power button. It restarted into Windows and I simply tried the operation in MiniTool Partition Wizard, again. This time, it restarted and successfully completed the operation. So, don't be afraid if this happens to you. Hope that helps.

In either case, most of the time data on a HDD is accessable without a working OS, provided you can mount and read said HDD. Just in case it might help someone: if you notice that you cannot merge the unused and bootcamp together, it could be because the two parts are not adjacent to each other on the bar at the bottom of minitool. I don’t know how you can make them adjacent (I tried merging the piece in between with the unused, and it worked? Don’t do that without research though), but I guess I pointed out the problem.

    Christopher Dillman GTA itself is around 72gb. When I tried to do this i put in 101gb but when I actually opened it said I had around 70gb free out of 94gb, so if you’re doing this I recommend around 150-200 gb maybe? It’s completely up to you.

    Thadd III For me when I run it it depends what I’m playing. When I play singleplayer it runs fine, as if im on a console. When I use GTA Online it runs a bit slower and there are a few fps drops but not too many. When I play using FiveM it depends on the server, if the server has a bunch of mods and addons then it will lag a lot but if the server does not have that many then you should be fine. By the way this is using my MacBook which is a 13 inch 2017 MacBook Pro with an i5 Dual Core 3.1GHz Processor and 8GB of ram. For the graphics card its the standard Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650. Of course this all depends on your MacBook because you might have a slower MacBook that maybe can’t run GTA.

  • @fortune655

    @fortune655

    Thadd III I would say you would run it pretty fine but you might have some issues here and there, by the way if you do play FiveM if anytime you have issues rendering or can’t see people and stuff, don’t worry thats usually because of your Wi-Fi not your computer. Also just to make sure you can run GTA there is a website named pcgamebenchmark which lets you check if your computer can run certain games. Here is the link for running GTA V www.pcgamebenchmark.com/grand-theft-auto-v-system-requirements Hope you have a good time playing GTA!
