I've heard improvisation is sometimes uncomfortable for a well trained musician because so much of it is spontaneous, off the cuff, out of the box etc. I try to play along with the music I like to listen to and fit my own unscripted playing into what I'm hearing. It's fun and so is jamming along with a friend. You never know what comes next !

The secret to improvisation is whistling or humming, that's what John Coltrane the master of improvisation and all jazz masters would do to practice, thats free direct improvisation, then you just need to connect your voice/ears to your instrument. Whistling over a tune or backing track is the best and easiest way to improvise

My music theory teacher is currently really pushing me to practice improvising. It's pretty difficult, but also pretty fun. This video came out at a pretty good time for me :) Also, I don't know if it's really a tip, but usually what I do is that I find "piano backing tracks" on KZread and play to that. With the pauses…I’d say recall the essay writing tip of varying the sentence length. Vary the distance between pauses

A more experienced person might not explain so well as you as they forget what they went through at the beginning. For me this was a very good explanation thank you. But please turn up the volume a little. You did a very good job explaining for me. Thank you.

I say a good way to start improvising is finding chord shapes you like and just hashing out arpeggios
