How to improvise beautiful melodies on the Ukulele - Learning to solo

Музыка

New Ukulele tutorials every Wednesday and Saturday
Today we are going to learn how to improvise. I had to think about this one long and hard because... how do you teach people how to improvise? I don't want to give you the notes, note for note, because then well, you aren't improvising you are just playing the idea that I showed you. So, I thought about it and I thought the best way to teach you how to solo on your ukulele is to start with learn how to play resolve your ideas. If you know how to resolve your licks, you know how to finish your ideas and you can go #FromScaletoSolo no problem.
The lesson is in the key of G major/E minor and we are using the pentatonic scale. The tab will display the scale in shapes 4, 5, and 1. You can use that to solo over the entire progression which is G, Em, C and D. You can use the backing track for these ideas or simply loop a G, Em, C and D chord as well. If you have a friend that plays the ukulele, or any instrument for that matter you, you can also jam with each other where one of you plays the chord progression while the other applies the ideas learned in this video to jamming and soloing together.

Danke. Mit deinen anderen Erklärungen wird daraus ein schönes Gesamtbild. Jetzt gilt es die verschiedenen Shapes und deren Root Notes zu lernen. 😎

Great lesson! What ukulele are you using in this video and do you have recommendations for what ukulele to buy for a more intermediate player?

Great lesson ( pretty much a given at this point). But putting Jake in the card might be overshooting it just a bit. Perhaps Marilyn Monroe in "The Seven Year Itch" or Tiny Tim Edit the M.M. film was " Some like it hot" ...my bad.

Great lesson - at the start you say shapes 2,5 and 1 but the tab shows 4,5 and 1

Usually the tabs are correct and usually I misspeak, can you put a time stamp and I can tell you what the mistake is? I want to make sure you have the correct information for your learning.

Sure - at 1.34 you say shape 2 - also at 2.36 you say 3-5 but I think you mean 5-7 - doesn’t really matter it’s a fantastic lesson I’m sat here soloing better than ever - need to learn this in all the common keys thank you

The wobble when I play is an illusion from the camera because it shoots at 24 frames a second and the strings move faster than that.
