Great video. My son is taking lessons from a hitting coach who creates hitters and he us absolutely hammering the ball at lessons which is a major improvement for his swing but in game he’s way early on timing and I guess because he’s opening up he’s out of the zone early. Worked on staying closed and it seemed to helped but haven’t tested it yet in a game or bp

Matt, love your channel. My son has a very similar swing to Ted Williams/Joe Dimaggio and hit .390 in 14U travel ball. Before you say that's awesome, please review Ted Williams swing, which is very different than what is taught today. Notice how low he keeps his hands and how he loads his scap, but he doesn't have the elbow up to elbow slot. Is it worth re-programming? Is he going to get penalized because his swing is different than what's taught today?

Hey Matt, my son suffers from the second issue. He hits great off the tee. Bat path, load, drives through the ball. However when we go to live pitching the form breaks down. He goes back to dropping hands, extending early, etc. Is there anything I can do to help him transfer his tee work to the live pitching or is this just something that he needs to be aware of and correct on his own. He’s only 10 so he definitely gets frustrated when it’s not going well. Thanks for the help.

For a 10-12U players (I estimate pitches are somewhere around 50-60 MPH), about when would you say the front foot has to hit the ground? When the ball is about to leave the pitchers' hand? when the ball is 1/2 (or 1/4) of the way to the plate?

As a little league coach for 15U with 13 players on my roster I have only 3 who load and consistently hit the ball. The rest don't load at all and don't hit the ball. They just swing with their arms and upper body. So helpful. But hard to teach to whole team with so little practice time. Even when I offer to coach on off days very few take me up on it. I don't know how they can go through a whole season and not get a hit.
