    This video was very helpful! I have a few questions though, is it possible to be signed with more than 1 agent at 1 time? Like could I be signed with 2 or 3 agents? My other question is: How often should you get headshots taken? I usually only get headshots taken once or twice a year, so should I be getting them more often?

  • @ActingCareerCenter

    @ActingCareerCenter

    3 жыл бұрын

    If the agents cover different regions then yes. For example I have an agent that represents me in the Southeast as well as another agent that represents me in the Midwest. Most people get new headshots every 2 to 3 years

  • @francinec2941

    @francinec2941

    3 жыл бұрын

    You can take headshots once every 2 to 3 years, or anytime you look has changed, for example men if you are clean shave and now you have a beard and mustache, or even a new hair color and different haircut. For women, anytime you cut your hair, color your hair, or you have a different look. As far as having two to three agents. I will not sign a client that has another agent within the same region. For the reason being, if I send one of my clients in for an audition and they book the job, they can take that job to the other agent and give them the money. If I did the footwork, I deserve the money. It's a business and I got to put food on my table. I've had actors in the past that have said... I would never take the job to another agent. And now I have to fight for my money because he gave it to the other agent. So I would say, No. Also it could possibly start a battle between different agents with you in the middle. Then your name gets around town and no one wants to sign you.

    Question: is it ok to reach out to multiple agents at the same time, like with college applications? Or is that "not done" also, I'm thinking of moving to Toronto for my acting career. Should I be contacting agents before going there? Or would that be a waste? Thanks

  • @ActingCareerCenter

    @ActingCareerCenter

    Yes, you can submit to multiple agents at the same time. That is common. And yes, you can definitely try to contact agents before you move, but it is likely that they will respond with "talk to us when you get here." But who knows, maybe they won't.

    I'm not really familiar with other markets. The best think you can do is to find opportunities for Mexican movies and shows. If you are trying to act in American shows, that will be very hard to do without moving to the US.

    You definitely need to be in the States. If you receive an audition from your agent, you need to be able to go to the audition. Also you need to be able to speak English without the Spanish accent, that way you're more valuable to a talent agent. Knowing both languages opens the doors up two more opportunities. Knowing both languages will allow you to be submitted to the Hispanic market, as well as General Market.

    Hi Kurt! I have a question. Are there any agents who sign actors who are outside of the States? Like accept their demo reels and head shots and when an opportunity presents itself, book those actors for the roles and the actor then comes to the states for the role? Is something like this possible?

  • @ActingCareerCenter

    @ActingCareerCenter

    3 жыл бұрын

    Extremely unlikely, unless you are already an established actor in your home country. It's even hard for American actors to get agents if they don't live close enough to the cities where productions are taking place. For example, when I was living in Cleveland, I had a hard time getting an agent in Atlanta (Cleveland is about a 10 hour drive from Atlanta). I had to move to Atlanta to get an agent here and start getting auditions for big movies and television shows. So if actors IN America have a difficult time getting an agent if they don't live close enough, imagine how much harder it will be for someone who lives outside of the country.

    There isn't really a central website to find acting classes anywhere. I would recommend doing a google search for acting classes in your city. If you're looking for online acting classes, there are probably thousands of acting schools around the world that offer classes via zoom. Below are a couple acting schools where I have personally taken classes Houde School of Acting: www.houdeschoolofacting.com/online-registration Drama Inc: dramainc.net/open-classes/

    Thanks for making these Kurt, very straightforward and helpful! Quick question: I'm an actor in LA who's beginning to take audition/scene study classes with the goal of transitioning from theatre to screen. I have gotten professional headshots and am SAG Eligible. Since I haven't done a lot of screen acting work, I don't have a demo reel that showcases my abilities yet. In your opinion, should I wait to have a reel that I'm proud of before submitting to agencies? Thanks again!

  • @ActingCareerCenter

    @ActingCareerCenter

    3 жыл бұрын

    There are multiple ways to create your own reel without waiting on anyone to cast you in a project. 1. write, produce, and film your own short film starring yourself. You can film it yourself or find a film maker friend, or hire a crew. 2. pay for one of those demo reel services that will do everything for you 3. film a self tape audition style scene at home and use that as your reel until you get better footage

    I would recommend you keep the facial hair you typically have for your headshots and auditions. Sometimes, at auditions, they will ask if you are willing to shave if you booked the job and that's when you can tell them that you will.
