Thanks for clearing this up somewhat for me James, because I'm from Melbourne and have been wanting to get my hands on the Snow Queen, but keep getting Australian retailers telling that the N Joy / Pearls & Jade plant that I'm looking at is a Snow Queen, and I haven't understood why. I've seen lots of US videos showing the Snow Queen, the Marble Queen and the N Joy - so they are 3 separate and distinct cultivars that exist. I think we definitely have the Marble Queen and the N Joy in Australia, but we don't have the true Snow Queen like the rest of the world. I'm just getting into indoor plants and your videos are great and helpful- thanks! 👍

In the US "snow queen" refers to a pothos where the entire plant has the lightest variation. Mostly white or cream. To make a Snow Queen you start with a marble Queen plant. Select the lightest color leaves to propagate. The Snow Queen plants do require more sunlight to photosynthesize properly. If they don't have the right lighting conditions then any new leaves growing in will have more green on them. So you they just require a little bit more attention light wise.

Definitely agree with all the above! The higher the lighting conditions, the more variegation you’ll get and promote 👏 either way, they’re both beautiful plants ☺️

As far as I'm aware, Australian Snow Queens have more crinkles in the leaf than an NJoy and Pearl & Jade. I own two beautiful Snow queens with gorgeous crinkled leaves, they're a highlight of my Pothos collection as they're so unique looking.

That is so true! My snow queen leaves are definitely quite crinkly - I've noticed it more lately with new growth. Glad you're enjoying them - I do love the marble queen a lot more, though! 😊🌱

A couple of days ago I bought four "Snow Queens" from Bunnings and today while I was washing the leaves I noticed that around half of one of them has lime green speckles all throughout the white. I'm confused ! I have no idea what's going on with it, or if it even is a Snow Queen !??? It looks completely different to the rest of it and the other three that I got. (I still love it though. All four of them have they're own personalities.) P.S. Great video. Thanks and take care. 🇦🇺👍

I know right! We'll just call them 'Snow Queens' from now on since we're in Australia 🤣🤣🤣 hope that this video helped!

Interestingly, what we know (where I’m from) as snow queen is similar looking to marble queen but whiter than marble queen. Leaves are more translucent than marble queen’s. Njoy and Pearls and Jade look the same except the added flecks of green in pearls and jade. Problem is Njoy some times can mutate and have the flecks as pearls and jade. Dang! Pothos identification is confusing! But, thanks for this vid! Interesting how naming conventions differ from diff places :)

Love hearing your thoughts, Joseph! Where are you from? You're absolutely right, when I was looking up the naming conventions for the Pothos in the USA, the Marble and Snow Queen looked similar (same leave shapes and speckles), just the predominant colouring. However, in Australia, our 'Snow Queen' is the 'N'joy' over there! Hopefully this video clarifies some of the confusion as I wanted to collate all the research :) Thanks for reaching out and watching, I really appreciate it!

@@simpleplanty Philippines! It is really fun researching about their names! There’s an intimate relationship between the gardener and the plant if the gardeners knows the specific ID of the plant. Hahaha So on we go with researching names! Thank you for sharing this, too! :)

@@josephpomarsabido1545 check 'Marble Prince Money Plant' on Google 😂 but definitely a very interesting debate! I agree, definitely more intimate relationship we want to have with our plants, hence wanting to know what we should call them! We uphold high regards to our own names by human nature, so the same applies to our plants 😂 thanks again for enjoying!
