Last year my brother in law decided to put a man made water source on his ridge property. Took a 55 gallon drum plastic tank cut it length ways and dug it into the ground about six inches down. Placed it in and carried water to it. Now there is a creek at the bottom of the ridge on someone else's property. He put the only source of water on top of the ridge his pictures of deer went from 2 to 3 deer a day to 14 to 20 pictures of different of deer, some deer he never seen before. What changed his property so much was the deer were able to get water at the top of the ridge and look down watching for any danger rather than walking down and back up the ridge to travel to a water source .

Very good info guys every time I watch any strategy videos from you and a few other people I always pick up something that makes more sense outta why things are the way they are where I hunt, and the areas around available to hunt. Thanks for that! Any info that can help my success is awesome and y'all seem to hit the nail on the head with explaining so many situations from your experiences across the country and there's always something that any hunter can relate to. It's just magnificent thanks guys!

Showing the marked up OnX map really helps summarize the scouting session. I also like using the tracker feature to map the trails in a situation like this and then look at it later on the big screen to study why the trails and beds are where they are

Very informative. I'd love to see you tackle scouting land that is heavily covered in pine. Paper company land that is a common theme. This year I am trying to set up in little finger areas where a few hardwoods were left.

Definitely will have to check back in the archives for a previous seasons' Mapping Whitetails series of videos. I really enjoy this combination of boots on the ground and e-scouting format. I have had a compound bow since 06' and been deer hunting since I was 10 or 12 and I am 36 now and have yet to release an arrow at a deer, buck or doe doesn't matter. I live in the northern panhandle of West "By God" Virginia and luckily am surrounded by about 1,000 acres my family is allowed to hunt, but have yet to have many an opportunity to arrow a deer aside from an average 8 point that I screwed up on. Hopefully this year will be the year since I also got my first turkey with my Dad after almost 2 decades of trying. I may look into public land in WV that is in some neighboring counties, and dive deep into it at least as far as e-scouting, with hopes for boots on the ground. I look forward to the next installment of the series. Thanks for sharing guys.

I've got 3 ponds on my private property and deer use them heavily their between 2 major bedding areas and the neighbors big corn field. Have seen some really nice bucks cruising through there. Never really hunted it tho. Just might have to give it a try this year

Ponds in farm country up at the top of draws can be killer. Bucks will bed out near the tip of draw near the pond. And usually the crops are up high or low and bucks will love accordingly. Love it

I guess I gotta rent that mini excavator and get to digging my hidden in the woods pond. We got some seasonal depressions But they hold water all year. Only a couple up turned oak trees where storms from hurricanes have uprooted them are still holding water. The depression is close to bedding...and turkeys roosting. Happy Hunting guys. Keep up the awesome hunting videos.
