Hi Tony, It's been while I started to follow you, I'd like to see strength training of a advanced boxer. For both lower body and upper body strength, I do weighted pull ups and dips, do they benefit me or should I quit and focus on different variations to improve my boxing power. My focus is to improve punching speed and power. I also take dumbells of 2.5kg to 7.5kg and holding them in my fist and begin to throw and pull back to improve my punching power , I'll look forward for your answer and help. You're appreciated with what you're doing, thank you.

Hi Tony could you do a video on how to load the body when throwing various combinations but also show how you might switch part way through if being countered. I know you’ve kind of covered it. Edit: could you do a video explaining the falling forward/into the punch method as used by Dempsey and Tyson.

Had a little boxing in college and learned just how much craft and hard work is involved. I've had a heavy bag in my garage for many years, and now that I'm seventy years old I find that it's excellent for cardio, stamina, and upper-body muscle tone, which is all the more important for me after having six-bypass open heart surgery three years ago. Watching this video I realize I'm doing some things wrong, but then I don't plan on getting in the ring or getting in too many street fights. Probably wouldn't work out too well. 😁

I swear he has a camera up in my gym and is just making lists to make fun of me. I throw bombs...and get tired within 30 sec. I don't move my head. I don't move my feet. I drop my hands between punches (though been working on that). I don't throw feints, BUT I keep watching your videos and I do notice that I have become aware of my deficiencies. Thinking about getting your video package. Looks like a really good deal right now. Ex body builder here...and I have grown to hate cardio, but hitting a heavy bag is fun and seems to get my heart rate up a good bit. Thanks for the motivation and making it simple for a complete amateur to understand what is going on.

Great video Tony. As you would already know, the heavy bag is popular but can encourage bad habits. I wanted to add to the points you made - my old coach use to tell me: if the bag is swinging towards you and out (in a straight line) throw straight punches as the bag swings AWAY (great for footwork, timing), if the bag swings side to side, throw hooks and uppercuts, again, try to hit the bag as it swings away as it is very easy to simply punch the bag as it swings toward you, but is risking wrist damage over time. Lastly, the biggest mistake I continue to make is to telegraph my punches with my eyes when going to the body, so I try to keep my eyes focused on the one spot on the bag. Cheers from Oz.

Boxing changed my life for awhile.. started as a obese 16yr old straight out of school and caught the bug and stayed a lean 12 stone till my mid 20s every thing i did in those years of my life i could always hear my coaches voice screaming at me and it pushed me to work harder even at work. When i gave up training that voice in my head slowly got quieter and quieter and i got fatter and slower lost motivation at work and life in general! Now im 35 and sitting at a whopping 21st married and with a daughter, but im ready to give it another go and these videos are amazing motivation thank you 🥊🥊

Hi Jeffrie and many thanks for your very good instructional videos and the pleasure to take part of your vast knowledge in boxing. I wonder however what kind of allround punching bag you prefer, weight, height an width? And also how heavy gloves you prefer when punching the bag? Thank you very much!

Hi Tony, I'm Jorge, writing from Madrid (Spain). Congrats for all your contents; they are plenty of sense. I'm practicing technical box for many years (training, not competition); and your videos are undoubtedly reflecting your high technical skills, so helpful for progressing.

Mike, I have Parkinson’s and the latest research suggest boxing is an excellent exercise to do with this ailment. Your total package with respect to hitting the heavy can only help with getting more muscles involved. With just the basics I can see tremendous improvements in my workouts as I deal with this ailment. Thank you.

@@Tony_Jeffries Wow! You replied, I feel special now haha. Well since I have you're attention for the moment, could you do a lesson on the Shoe shine technique like Ray Leonard? How to practice it, when and how to use it and how to defend against it. And again, I appreciate everything you do for us beginners. Keep up the great work! I strive to be better everyday because of you're lessons! Thank you!
