Good stuff! The last years I was looping the racquet á la Agassi but it was erratic although backhand used to be my strongest strike. Half a year ago I wen’t back to the basics (since age has made me stiffer), i.e. the take-back you’re showing, and my backhand immediately improved. Keep it simple. Next it’d be great to see serve tips, both first and second serves. If possible it’d be great with slow motion clips.
Fantastic tips! This is where I have been focusing lately as well!

i switched from one hand to two handed backhand like 3 years ago and now my two hand is a solid weapon/shot! i've actually been messing around recently and hitting my one handed backhand again for fun and am surprised i can switch between the both of them during a rally. but no, i would never go back to a one handed backhand, two handed backhand master race ;)
Grisha, i dont usually comment but this is top tier tennis content, you are a lifesaver!

The video I didn't know I was hoping for. I've noticed that your takeback is really simple, and I've sometimes considered adopting that approach, so I'm glad you explained your rationale behind it!

These are really helpful tips--they describe what makes a backhand feel more "natural." My forehand comes easy to me but my backhand has always confused me. Your descriptions of when to think about each hand, and when not to, are helpful.

Just wanted to confirm that tip no3 is the most important one for sure. Coaches sometimes start with too much focus on arms and even hands and wrists in order to create spiny two handed backhand, which is very good longterm but its the next step and not the start. Fix your arms and focus on your body rotation, even exagarate and stiffen your arms and wrists so that only body can do the work. Once you feel that your backhans is rock solid stable, implement your wrist motions slowly but now when you do it, your body will still be doing the work and you wont be just "scratching" the ball. Trust Grisha on this one, tip 3 is by far the most important for beginers!

Really nice and FRESH approach to using the double backhand. I allways struggled with my backhand. Since I tried to imitate Kyrgios doubleshanded backhand it works way better than the "Let the racket drop bla bla " approach. Im not saying I can hit a backhand like Kyrgios but it is more relaxed for me now and I play more intuitive and that makes me more focused on where to aim the ball instead of constantly thinking HOW to hit a proper backhand. Thanks for the other tips!!
@tijgertjekonijnwordopgegeten
25 күн бұрын
Yeah it definitely depends what you want from your backhand, but if you hit it like Kyrgios you'll have a stable low backhand that you can consistently hit until you get another forehand. Dropping the racquet and whipping it (like Sinner) creates more power, but it's harder to time and not optimal for most.
@rubenromerobouwens677
25 күн бұрын
@@tijgertjekonijnwordopgegeten Yes I have a hard time timing it right. For aiming I just push with my lefthand. But most of the time I just run around my backhand and use my best stroke, my forehand :D

Here are the tips with some added notes I would recommend 1. Hit the ball in front and from hip to under shoulder level(weight always forward) 2. Make the backswing simple (turn your torso first) 3. Use your body (the follow through doesn't mean just your arm, it means follow through with your entire body towards the shot) 4. Forget about your dominant arm (the dominant arm needs to relax so you can get the racquet lag) 5. Use your non-dominant arm for micro adjustments and flat shots 6. Work on your wrist movements for shorter court shots. 7. Use your backhand the right way
Спасибо большое за видео, теперь у Хуана наконец-то сядет слева!
Really interesting. For a few months now, I've been feeling my backhand to be kinda "off", I just don't feel at ease playing it, altough I don't make that many mistakes using it. Will try to apply these tips.

Isn’t the dominant arm the left arm with which you use the wrist so to say with the lag and snap and the front right arm is for guiding the ball. Loved your video. Slightly confused with this point though.
Would you do a bideo on return of serve especially returnign fast serves and returning slice out wide and how it digferes in groundstrokes for how to move to ball
