How to hit a semi-open stance tennis forehand

Спорт

In this video, I'm showing your the specific footwork needed for the semi-ope stance forehand. The semi-open forehand in tennis has become the most dominant way to hit a forehand from the baseline because it can be used to create massive power and rotation on the ball.

    Ps . Thank you for this video. A lot of my juniors have really improved their ground strokes and rally skills over the last few months to the point they all are hitting at a higher level than they can consistently rally now. So I teach them these techniques myself but showing them this and having another pro give them the info in a different voice is so helpful.

    Excellent video thanks! If we decide to move up to such balls (and not drop back) should we still use a semi-open stance for these balls ? Or closed stance ? Thank you in advance

    Do you suggest using the crossover step on the backhand side for loopy balls also? Like the idea - seems smoother than side stepping. Thanks for the video.

    Yes, same footwork pattern on the backhand. So for right-handed player the left side of the body drops back and the right leg crosses in front of left to take one big, quick step. Back in the day when I was a junior I was taught just to turn and shuffle back but with really aggressive, higher topspin balls you just don't get back quickly enough hence the cross-over.

    Yes, thats the perfect time to use it, you just have to make sure that you move far enough back to get the ball inside your strike zone.

    Could I also use a reverse pivot when I'm moving back? In the square stance my hand pass through first as step forward? in the direction of my target? Is this acceptable? Thank you so much you're great. You're exactly what KZread needs at the moment. J

    Hi Meike, how should we change our forehand swing to hit a flat drive shot? 🙏🎾

  • @MeikeBabelTennis

    @MeikeBabelTennis

    You'll have to flatten out your swing. So a more shallow loop and a straighter forward rather than upward swing.
