    Ah that brought back memories. I had no idea where we were walking at 07:00 and branched off to the left heading to big daddy. Daddy was tired walking up there and was glad that by boys and wife were tired too. But I was aghast when I saw Deadvlei below us. Brilliant and never to be forgotten. Very lovely place. Well done Nick 👍

    When I was there, there was this wonderful Japanese lady living with a dutch guy (if I remember well). She kindly suggested to walk barefoot ...... I decided to hold on to my serious hiking shoes :). XX

    Thank you. This is very good but it needs more specific information to be great. Like what was the actual temperature when you did this hike? When did you do it (month)? When is the best month to do it and when is it not worth doing it due to clouds etc? What to bring and wear (your shoes don’t look so great but you managed this very well amd didnt burn your feet so I am guessing this is not a very tough desert hike and it was not so hot when you did it given what you rate wearing). What level of fitness is needed etc. How much water to bring?

    Thanks for the feedback. I'll include this type of information in the future. Temp about 40degrees Celsuis, beginning Feb, but the temp rarely goes below 35 during the day. It would be difficult to wait for clouds, too random, especially if you only have one or two days there. It's a short hike, 1km from the car park: enough water, about 2lt person, more if you climb big daddy, an energy bar or something with a bit of energy should you need it. Hat, SPF50 sunblock, sunglasses, your camera equipment. Just beware of the sand when taking electronics. Light long pants and shirt is goof protection against the sun. Shoes to hike through heavy sand, cross trainers or boots if you prefer. No i did burn my feet in that one spot. :) Some people do it barefoot, but that is crazy. I've seen 80 year olds do it. If you have knee, hart, back or other conditions avoid it. Hiking in the heavy sand and hot sun is exhausting. I'd say moderate, because it is short and you can stop and rest if you need. Just note proper medical attention is very far away

    i felt the pain of your burning feet haha . bad.... Ive got a question 1), so you said if i camp inside NWR, i can go early to see the places. How early? Because i see that reach Dune 45. You still need to drive from Sesriem. So if I wanna be in deadvlei before sunrise. what time can I start to drive from NWR SESRIEM CAMPSITE? like any time 3/4am? 2) what time can I leave deadvlei in the evening time? (if I camp in NWR SESRIEM) i was wondering also if I could stay there at night and see some stars?

  • @NickfrNamibia

    @NickfrNamibia

    2 жыл бұрын

    yeah it was pretty bad🔥dont hike with flip flops. You'll probably be able to drive out about 30mins before sunrise. Yip Dune 45 is 45km from Sesriem. You'll have to negotiate, but I dont believe it is possible to be at Deadvlei before sunrise. You have to be back in camp about 30mins after sunset, so no you are not allowed at Deadvlei after dark. They do random checks.
