I climbed Snowdon last Wednesday via this route, it was a wonderful experience and gave me a big confidence boost because I didn't know if I was fit enough to succeed. Hiking and mountain trekking are my favourite activities but it had been a while since summiting a proper mountain. I advise anyone to go for it😄👍

Good video and glad you enjoyed it, I'm a local mountain runner and just one tip about footwear, there are a lot of specialist mountain running shoes these days which are like approach shoes but tend to have better grip on a larger variety of terrain, whereas approach shoes tend to be designed more for just very rocky approaches, so comfort wise on dry summer days I always prefer a mountain running shoe, and they're a lot less likely to cause blisters for new hikers than big heavy boots.

@@michaeljones1445 Why would I shave my legs? I specifically said I'm a mountain runner, it's cyclists who shave their legs, muppet.
I recon I must have summited Yr Wyddfa over 30 times this year... I lost count, it could be 40. I never summit later than 9am, especially on a weekend, I hate the crowds. I've seen three sunrises, hail, snow, rain, hurricane force winds and glorious sunshine from the top. I've gone up via the Llanberis path, Ranger, Watkin, Miners, Pyg, Rhydd Ddu, Big Dipper and Crib Goch. I know the mountain quite well.

That makes sense. From what I’ve heard the gradient isn’t as steep compared to the other routes so it may be the best option in winter! Happy hiking!

I am planning on walking this path to summit, someone who wants to come is scared of heights! Is there any parts where the path is smaller/narrower than what you show in the video and therefore being closer the edge of the mountain?
@GeorgeSoan
6 ай бұрын
Awesome, hope you have a great hike! The most narrow section is towards the summit. However, it was very cloudy the day we went up so you couldn’t see too much which is good in a way (if someone is scared of heights) but you don’t get to see the whole view!

Thank you! Parking for the day cost £11 - the hike itself is free to do, so the other costs to consider would be transport, accomodation (if required) and food / drinks.

Is that path straightforward and safe to go solo?
@GeorgeSoan
8 ай бұрын
hi there! yes, I think it would be as it is a fairly straightforward up and down route. However, I would let someone know the time you are leaving / meant to arrive back and the exact route you're taking. A backup communication device is also handy if you're solo. I was once caught in a rainstorm, my phone died and I had no other form of communication. Now I carry a GPS device (Garmin In-Reach mini 2) which allows me to send SMS / signal for help when there isn't phone signal or if my phone dies for whatever reason. I'd also recommend plenty of water, food and a small first aid kit. A rain jacket and layers towards the top will be handy. Hope you have a great hike and stay safe!
Can you pay on your card at the car park?

Yes, the machines accepted card when I was there. Always good to carry cash as a backup.

*Snowdonia is an area within an AONB, so wild camping is not allowed or camper vans parking anywhere to camp overnight. There are many campsites to choose from. Garth Farm Campsite is in the valley between Betws Y Coed/ Capel Curig AND Pen Y Pass and is quite exposed to the elements, but popular and on the Caernarfon/Betws Y Coed S1 bus route. The bus takes about 20 minutes from Betws Y Coed OR 10 minutes from Pen Y Pass and is a request stop. The bus (single and double decker) takes CASH(change given) or credit/debit CARD on a tapNgo basis*
