Thank you for this!! These exercises and massages make so much more sense than other things I read (bicycle movements). Currently recovering from our 2nd tplo. I wish I saw this sooner! Her first surgery was just a little over 6 month ago.

Thank you for this thorough explanation. My girl is now 2 weeks post op and ready to start these exercises. Of all the apps & videos I've watched, this is the clearest and I really love the upper body exercises. I feel confident I'm going to do a good job for my girl.

Thank you for your feedback. | recommend that you start thinking about preventing injury in the other leg. Chances are lower if you address so tissue, muscle etc on the opposite leg as well. |It is having lots of burden right now and ever since the injury. Focus on the graciliis, and hamstrings. Best of luck :)

Passive Range of Motion is ideally done before surgery as well as after can be the first Day, Just be GENTLE. You shouldn't need to touch the suture line, but no harm done if your just gently touching. I hope that was helpful.

Super gentle passive range of motion can begin 24 hours after your dog gets home. If your dog is being bothered you are being too rough or fast. Take a deep breath, smile, and touch your dog as if they were a baby bird.

I clicked the ad to make sure you got some adsense for this amazing content. Thank you so much, my service dog has to be retired due to a knee injury and I'm looking for resources, suggestions etc to give him the best longevity as my companion post retirement (cause he's a big guy who could live quite a while, so even if he's not gonna be working anymore, I want him to be functional, happy and thriving until it's his time.)

When do I start doing the PROM? My dog just had TPLO surgery four days ago and does not seem ready for all the therapy on her leg. She is not putting any weight on her surgical leg and her foot got swollen by the bandage - my vet thinks. I am afraid to start any therapy this soon. Also, do you have a video of where the ice pack should go on her leg? Thanks so much for all your information.

Thanks for reaching out I recommend starting PROM right away Day 1 post op, joints only get their nutrition and blood flow by moving, use ice as well. See this video too kzread.info/dash/bejne/iaWs249upLW-Ys4.htmlsi=vsDF5aaGO3XRm-KU

Great video. You mentioned this dog was 2.5 weeks post op. When do you recommend these PROM exercises are started post op around the same time? Also how often/duration?

I am so sorry for the delay in this response -- this is a great question and clearly your dog is quite post-op by this time. However, there are a multitude of simple rehab exercises that I recommend for any cruciate injury post-op or not to 1. strengthen the injured the limb and 2. more importantly, prevent injury to the opposite limb. You can view more free content to support you and your dog here: www.finndvm.com/acl-knee-injury I also highly encourage you to join my Whole Dog Health Membership which will give you access to an abundant of additional resources and personally invite you to my weekly live Q & A zoom calls to discuss more about your dog. www.finndvm.com/whole-dog-health-membership -- Hope to see you there!

My Westie is 4 weeks post op on TPLO. He hates me touching his leg from the knee down...tried to run away. He has never stood having his feet touched. Any suggestions? He is fine with the body massage and hip massage though.

I’m sorry but I’m looking for something a bit more realistic such as dealing with the first night after and the next day because despite giving proper meds, a posturpedic bed, and gel packing the area there is tons of pain in movement
