How to help a horse load on a float or trailer safely

Ойын-сауық

Australian Horseman Mark Langley shows an in depth loading lesson that he gave to a mare who had never been loaded before. She had to load into a particularly small float to get home. "I wanted her placing her feet softly and her thoughts thinking inside the float. This lesson shows how I build her confidence, teach her to centre, reduce her anxiety and put trust in the feel of the rope and me, setting her up to travel safely home.
Ideally this lesson would be done over a longer period of time but I hope it helps give you some things to try."

Everything I teach has to make sense to the horse; help to reduce tension; gain confidence and understanding; and gain a connection with you.
It doesn't matter what stage you are at in your horsemanship. My focus on putting your horses mind before the body offers a different approach to horsemanship and I hope to be able to help you help your horse to be more relaxed, willing and happier because of that.

This is by far the best method to teach loading. My horse is as anxious and scared and I wanted to try the 'work and load' mehod, but knowing my horse, I knew that wasn't going to work and thankfully I came across your method. It took me only 2 hours to teach her and she now has so much trust in me and the box. Will work with her the rest of the week on the rest of your method. I am glad for all the ground work we had done over the oast 2 years, so she could only focus on the loading and nothing else.

Thank you so much. This is one of the best informative videos for this process. Once again many thanks. Back to trying load my mare patiently with my rope. 👏👏👏

this is undoubtedly the best trailer loading video that i have seen. when i got my first horses 25 years ago, i thought that just getting them to load was all that was necessary. so i would load them and hope for the best. now i have a young horse and i have a lot of concerns that i did not have before. i want it to be a safe experience for him and for him to feel comfortable. Thanks so much for a great video.

This is so educational. Shaking the trailer, hand on butt, using the best eye, etc., etc. Thank you!

Certainly a different mindset on loading. Hopefully people will understand that this is NOT done WITHOUT the basics of the building blocks which come BEFORE the float-load. Well done Mister🎉

Great demonstration, I’m still amazed at how many little things you notice and in turn help to change in the horse 🐴 👌😎

Great video; learned a lot; Thank you. I hadn't thot about the issues presented, ie not to tap on hip, follow the rope, but I need more understanding to not follow the concept "making it easy in trailer, than out of trailer." I'll look for your other videos

Great tutorial video, currently teaching my mare to float load and found this video and I've made great progress.. it's not just teaching the horse but I'm learning the right technique using this video. I keep coming back and rewatching to help ME get it right. 👍 we've got half in so far after one session. Now I need to get all four feet right in .. not rushing it coz my girl is nervous and slightly stubborn and I don't want to get it wrong. Thank you

I've got a new problem for you Mark. My gypsy cob scrambles in float and throws herself into the side bar. And puts all her weight in her back ends. Sitting into tail gate. Did load fine but getting worse the more travel I do with her.

My horse happily walks in but any unfamiliar noises he's off 😢I've tried for years. I have been too scared to close him in because I know hel be afraid apart from once recently, and he was sweating and shaking when he came out. It was just a short journey 😢

I can load the little horse but once he's in he becomes expensive, until he's out he will hurt himself or someone if it continues.
