What a great Channel and an amazing video I love the way it looks when you are flying behind the other pilot. Reminiscent of the old dog fight videos. You're definitely on to something because the head tracking seems to make a huge difference in the reality of the experience. Quick question do you actually experienced ground-rush (roller coaster feeling) while diving and flying?? cheers from Texas

Long time fpv racing drone pilot & this is what gets me excited in fixed wing.
Seriously you change my life after today, i get into fpv drones, i know you doesn't like to much, but for that reason i discover this channel. I've always wanted to be a pilot, but is too expensive in my country, but with fpv and now thiss i could be an Scale fpv pilot 😅❤️ Thanks a lot, cheers from Colombia
I've got a 1/12 scale,30kg rc excavator, im currently planning to put a head tracker into the cab of it. Should be awesome.
ABSOLUTELY the coolest thing I've seen to date! 👍👏👏👏
I have been waiting for someone to talk about this
So lucky i bought all this months ago.....I just need to set it up! This is awesome and I'm looking forward to doing the same! Thanks for the tutorial :)
love head tracking flights
Imagine having a compact version of the head tracking that could fit in a cockpit. You could then design tiny working instruments for the cockpit for a immersive rc flight
I just barely finish my first FPV plane n i m super excited
Pretty wild! I love those FPV models. So much more realistic videos. Thanks for taking the time to explain this, and where it looks like the tech is headed. It might be fun to get the pilots heads 3D Printed to the looks of the owner. :)

For the super budget version I stick an AIO camera on a servo in the cockpit and use the rudder ch to pan left and right. Either a 3 ch plane or I put it on a switch between rudder and camera. Works great. I’ve put it in stuff as small the flight test mighty mini size planes. Nothing fancy but I can look around
Very useful move. Thx for sharing knowledge. I have FPV camera on my yellow Waco ( biplane) ,but in this year i want to make this camera moving :). Thx again for lots of information.

I built a 90mm fw f22 with Inav+head tracking last spring, and didn't have the greatest luck due to some poor setup choices, but am now having great luck with my HTFPV fms super cub, and I love it. Get a 3d statue of yourself and fit it inside the cockpit and face a mini camera at it and fly it around as if it is you inside it flying it!!?? THAT WOULD BE THE MOST COOLEST THING TO SEE!! just add a 180 pan servo to it.

ALMOST SUBS 600K DOM. Good to see the channel grow.
Dayam that’s cool
Been in fpv for many years and never bought a head tracking unit unfortunately, come on HK! I'll buy 2!
Excellent.🙂 I have an idea to use fibre optic instead of the camera lens so you would see through one of the pilots eyes. I did also find some info on someone that had built working flight instruments! I have so far built a flight chair set up using a converted joystick/pedals/throttle and an Auduino Uno, next job is to integrate the head tracker input. I fly with 'Drone circle' (see Facebook page) near Macclesfield. cheers John.
Thank you for the information! I think you're absolutely right about this being the next greatest thing. I wonder if it is possible to have two setups so as to give people "rides" where they are able to look around.

With a second set of DJI goggles, yes.
Jaja, cool!
Just my 2 cents. But a phone (old or new) has a screen battery and motherboard with gyro (very accurate gyro) built into a small system. We just need someone make a way to be able transmit and receive the data over a long range for this to become the new thing. You can get external cameras for phones though USB so that’s 1 part solved I think it’ll be a matter of time before it’s an affordable attachment for our phones and planes/drones/helicopters/cars… Obviously it would require an app as well and I’m sure it’ll become popular if pulled off good enough
It's what i want to try
This also strikes me, i've been flying FPV since like 2005 and many many years ago i bought a head tracker, in fact two different systems. But i never got ot actually setting up a moving camera setup with head tracking until recently, when i got more free time due to the current events. I had a hard time identifying the systems that i bought years ago and finding manuals for them, as one of them is just 2 black boxes for example. But i did manage to set one of them up and i'm ready for maiden in the next couple of days. While i was identifying my systems and finding manuals for them i found out that there is practicly no headtracking systems available today, while back in the day there was quite a lot of offerings and people bought them. I really wonder why would it die down and why would those offerings cease to exist, not even talking about lack of more modern systems with drawbacks of old systems polished out. This situation is really wierd to me taking into account how much microelectronics have advanced in just the past 10 years, let alone 15.

The fact that DJI is bringing out new goggles and a "freestyle" drone with gimbal leads me to believe the new goggles will have head tracking.

nope no headtracking
Next year when the big thing in head tracking comes it will be three times more expensive🤣😂🤣😳. 🤓✨
My skyzone03 has head track port??? The DJI FPV one axis gimble and camera I think is a good candidate for ability to look down and up via transmitter for the Swan so that it does not just look at sky when in quad mode.
I know this stuff ain’t cheap at all, and is very hard to do, but in the future when this becomes relatively inexpensive and somewhat common, imagine doing dogfights with this technology, maybe figure out a way to electronically do it so a plane will register a hit when hit, or make it almost like airsoft in the air
wow
This would be amazing on my nitro .90 sized warbird, but having to use more channels on top of what my bird can do is a bit of a pain. If whatever company made an all-in-one set that talked with the head tracker both for the FPV signal as well as regular radio for the tracking servos, that would be choice.
@speedyfpv7104

vibrations will be an issue. The camera will need to be dampened well to prevent the "Jello" effect.
Dominic what's ur opinion on Quadcopters?

I hope so Derrick. It's the most exciting thing in RC I've tried for a very long time. So much potential but a few problems and challenges to resolve. In cockpit telemetry is the thing I would REALLY like. I might have to invest in JETI or similar to achieve it. I've investigated Spektrum and they've dropped the ball entirely on that front. Their app only works on iPhone 4. Pointless.

Propan model looked wobbly.. The air unit is likely to overheat in the extra. Great fun though. Done it on a Spitfire with analogue FPV just using the radio sliders.
@EssentialRC
3 жыл бұрын
It's not the propan unit. It's a pilot figure on a servo in the Extra330. You think the air unit has to be in the breeze? There will be some air flow through a hole in the front of the canopy so I doubt it. If it was buried in the fuselage and insulated then maybe.
@JakeBullit123

@@EssentialRC I meant the first one on the propan mount in the Spitfire. You might get away with the air unit on low power in the extra this time of year in the UK
Can I use the headtracker with my spektrum DX6?

The internal Fatshark module is available at Getfpv I am desperate to get this set up in a plane. Any references on converting that to stand alone? I would like a complete warbird of appropriate size for flight by mid March. With a DJI FPV system in play. then I can export that feed and possibly power a second fixed analog camera for spectators.
Try a 360 degree camera and connect it to the transmitter but you will need to lock the 360 degree camera locked forward or win you go to turn ull be locking in the roung direction I just dont have the parts or money to do my idea

DJI Digital FPV camera/air unit paired with the goggles. The head tracking independent of that. I used a FatShark external module. Not manufactured any more but you may find it on eBay. The module connected into the trainer port on my Spektrum DX18 transmitter. We will be selling an Essential RC head tracker module in the near future on our eBay shop.
Which servo should I buy in order to have 90 degrees for each side movements?
@EssentialRC

Standard servo will be fine for 90 degrees each side. When you want to go almost 180 degrees for full rotation that's when it gets challenging. Proportional 360 degree servos are rare.

I'll worry about that when it actually happens Brian. Why they should limit what happens at BMFA affiliated RC flying clubs is beyond me. Anyone wanting to drift cars legally has to do it at a proper track rather than on the streets. Why not just apply the same common sense to our hobby?

The fpv laws are questionable. I can't legally put my analog 5.8ghz vtx at more than 25mw output powrer but my WiFi routers can display 5.8ghz at 600mw!!!???. I'm pretty sure the ceo of the FAA won't slide tackle me and confiscated my drone if I put my video power up to 600mws. Silly.

how do you connect the pan and tilt gimbal to the head tracker
@EssentialRC
Ай бұрын
Pan/tilt has 2 servos which plug into receiver. The head tracker plugs into trainer port on your radio transmitter. The transmitter send the servo positions for pan/tilt to the servos in the gimbal via 2 trainer channels.
This is both exciting and frustrating at the same time for me. I have tried to spark interest in headtracking fpv for a couple years now with no luck. I really don't understand why it has never been popular in the mainstream. Everyone says it is amazing but they have no interest in trying it
