    Love your videos! Your goal of doing most of your travelings between 55-65 is very realistic! Love your attitude and lifestyle! What most people don’t realize is that there is an active part of retirement initially, then we all age and our bodies deteriorate. Investing the first part of your retirement into doing things that you love is very wise. Plus, your active lifestyle is probably going to keep you healthy and extend your healthy years. You’re the pioneer in this area! I will continue to follow you and glean from your experiences! Thank you!

    Thank you for sharing this information. Financial independence provides freedom and choices. My wife and I often talk about various trips and adventures we have had over the course of our marriage. Sometimes we comment that we almost never talk about a car we bought along the way or some other material item. Early in our marriage we felt like we were doing something wrong, as we knew people buying vacation homes, big primary homes and expensive cars. When we started seeing a financial planner he said he has clients like that and their finances are a mess - having the appearance of a lot of wealth, but not in actuality.

    My wife and I love you guys! Thank you for sharing all of your wisdom and experience. We have our Osprey packs and are starting to chart bigger adventures thanks to you. A thought - for those USA residents retiring closer to 60-65, 25 times earnings may not be necessary as their "bridge" to their Social Security subsidy is relatively short. As mentioned, have a fiduciary, fee only (not based on assets under management) certified financial planner design a customized plan for each situation.

  • @RetirementTravelers

    @RetirementTravelers

    Thanks for watching. Agree that 25X is only a guideline. There are many options out there for the bridge. Another one is drastically reducing your expenses like we did. We have no regrets from selling everything and there are many places in the world to spend time that are much lower cost than US. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/

    Fantastic advice, my friend! I hope people heed this wise counsel. Been a fan of Dave Ramsey and he preaches much of the same message. Wise stewardship of our finances is so essential! Only thing I'd personally add is cheerfully and sacrificially giving the Lord the first fruits of our income.

    I retired 10 years ago, after a long career as an attorney. In 2023, I decided to sell my home and move abroad. I gave my kids furniture, my car, and things they wanted. My kids helped me to do the Swedish death Cleaning exercise. I now live in a beachfront furnished apartment in Panama. I have traveled to many countries in Europe, Africa, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. Still traveling, but wanted a home base. That's why I chose Panama. I'm meeting new friends and learning Spanish.

    This is great! I too enjoy running. You mentioned passive income. What types of passive income are helping you afford your lifestyle? The 25x rule for retirement savings is a good rule of thumb. Did you save beyond the 25x? Are you getting anxious about your investments after the volatile market the first part of 2022?

    We have a pension and savings that covers most of our retirement living and our expenses are actually lower now traveling the world after selling our house and all possessions!! Downsizing really is powerful. We hope to grow the Retirement Travelers brand through KZread into additional sources of income along the way. Yes, the volatility is concerning, but our market portfolio is longer term investments that we don’t plan to touch anytime soon, which helps. We are little above the 25X rule. John and Bev

    Yes, with one of our daughters, but literally just one smallish box. We made one box for each child and each is located at their houses as well. John and Bev

    Hi Bev and John! What age did you guys start thinking about traveling full time? My husband and I are in our late 40s and he’s looking at 53 in retiring. Our kids will be adults in a couple years, so I feel like it’s go time now. Have a good day ❤️

    Supporting charities has always been important to us. We see many needs as we travel and we make contributions in various ways. It’s hard to travel and not feel compelled to contribute toward the good in the world that is helping the less fortunate. John & Bev

    As always good advice to follow. You were really lucky to retire so young. I and my Husband retired as soon as was possible for us(63) and are continuing are travel dreams. We have visited a lot of different countries on all continents . Living within your means' is the best advice to keep yourself debt free. Minimulise! it's so hard to get rid of stuff but so liberating afterwards . Lots of people see retirement as the next step before death so NOT true. There's a big world out there go for it. Keep making these videos they are so inspiring.

    This may sound weird question but I am 54 and my husband is 61 and we were able to retire. We are comfortable but when people talk to me specifically I feel guilty for saying I am not working. Did you run into that and any advice from anyone even viewers. Thanks. Just found your channel.

    So glad you found our channel and hope you can follow along on our retirement journey. Congrats on your early retirement. Zig Ziegler once said, “Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for.” So, we think guilt gets you nowhere, just be grateful. Thanks again and hope you have a wonderful day! John and Bev

    Oh my, that might take a couple bottles of wine 🍷 🤣 Major themes would be wanting more travel, strong push to minimalism, simplify life, wanting retirement to be extraordinary vs. ordinary, a legacy of adventure for our kids and grandkids, wiser use of our money, etc. It evolved over about 5 years time. Hope this helps. John and Bev
