How To Haul The Worlds LARGEST Grader! (un-haul)
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The worlds largest production made grader rolled into @quintonbartolotta shop today and I saw it as a good opportunity to show you how we move these big oversized loads. Now I myself have never hauled a 24H... but I did have trailers like this one and the process is similar. All moves are a little different and have their own challenges, but the crew at Iron King knows what they are doing and this unload went really smooth.

In Australia we call the 'jeep' a 'dolly' because it is essentially a dolly wheel but those big lowboys are awesome. All the way from the design, construction to the man behind the wheel they are an impressive bit of kit.

@@seanworkman431 80's in So Calif we had what we called a "Dolly" that you could drive the front tires of a scraper up on, we had 631 Cats' and do short moves on county roads chaining the can up and using the rear tires for your trailer. The dolly would also double as a small jeep for loads pushing max std loads.
this is why I like your Channel so much Casey, you keep us entertained with a wide variety of topics, all of which have been meaningful.
I have always wondered what the rear tandems do on a heavy haul tractor trailer and your explanation cleared it up for me. Your describing the various parts of the truck and trailer and what they do was wonderful. The variety on your channel, Casey, is the best on KZread. Thank you

My dad use to work on heavy tractors at a Caterpillar dealer that had a shop in Portland. He worked in the SF bay area. He worked on anything that had a CAT in it - from heavy dumps used in mines to cranes at the shipping yards. He was sent to Alaska one time to repair a Cat in the oil fields. My Mom would takes us to visit him in the shop until we were ran out by his boss. Thanks for bringing back those memories.
The more we learn about you the more I laugh about the comments from critics when you began the channel. I wear my "I never said I was good at that" t-shirt often. Always enjoy all the different stuff you show us thanks for taking us along man
My late father talked about guys like these... Men of few words but lots of action! Fantastic from beginning fitting that long truck through the gate, to parking that monster!!! Fantastic!
I love the fact i can watch your content and gain knowledge instead of losing brain cells watching most of the content on this platform! Keep up the great stuff man!
That thing looks like CAT went 'what's our largest generator? lets put it on wheels and see what we can make with it.'
Anytime you are moving, loading, unloading or operating any piece of equipment from a skid steer to massive mining equipment there is always ONE person designated as the signalman, everyone else around is supposed to call out a STOP signal only. We all know that never happens. I love at 22:35 Green shirt guys is trying to help but looks over and thinks "Ok I'll shut up" More than once I've had multiple people throw all different signals in dangerous situations, all you can do is stop and Politely say with as little profanity as possible "He/she is the only one that should be giving me signals" lol
That thing is a beast! I like the PVC pipe trick! Never thought of that!
That 24H is in better shape than some I’ve used! Been running them since 2011.
These videos of other things in your daily schedule are just as interesting as the rescue jobs. Keep up the good work!

You could grade your and Grumpys whole road with one swipe!!
Hi, Casey LaDelle. Thanks for the video - well done. The Cat 24H is the world's largest CURRENT production grader as the Champion 100T WAS a production grader but is no longer produced. What a LOTTTT of people don't know is that Acco 'ackshully' built a 'prototype' grader BEFORE he built the REAL one. The 'prototype' was apparently all on single tires and 'only' weighed a 'mere' 160 tons. From what I can find out, both machines existed at the same time until both were scrapped when his estate was wound up after his death and the death of his son shortly afterwards. The Acco dozer has been saved and is currently in storage in Italy not far from where it was built. Just my 0.02. You have a wonderful day. best wishes. Deas Plant.
8:00 'Yeah, Casey... I know what you did!' was hilarious... 😄😄
I was really hoping you were overriding the "HOA" in your area to do more road work like last year, that would have been hilarious.
Casey, the breadth of your knowledge and experience never ceases to amaze me!!!!
Casey is in control. You didn't say how long ago you ran a grader almost as big as this, but we can see you've still got what it takes to get 'er done!
Nice placement of the Yankum Ropes sticker on the forklift :D
The evolution of heavy machinery has been remarkable; Benjamin Holt would surely be astounded. Watching this video brought back memories of my childhood, clambering over heavy equipment in my grandfather's backyard as if it were a playground. Good stuff.
Probably the best definition of how a Jeep and the rear system that I don't remember the name of work. I often wondered how they distributed the load correctly. Thanks for clarifying as always. Appreciate the deverse content
There is always a bit a stress and tension in the air when unloading or loading a piece of equipment glad everyone can still count to twenty and clap.
That's pretty cool.. I already watched this on the Iron King channel. Still cool though. Thanks for the video
Great content! I like how you explain how everything works and functions on the low boy trailer.
Love big machine videos Casey, especially when explained how it all works.
Look at the size of those tires. Wow!
Nice Tonka toy
So, this is why they are your friends? You both do shenanigans. Cool video. Love that machine.
About 10 years ago i machined 2 sets of steering knuckles for these bad boys. Massive is an understatement.
Casey you are so knowledgeable.. you're a walking machine encyclopedia
Big stuff is cool! Just takes more knowledge and care. A jeep on it's side is not too bad, that grader on it's side would be a Big problem...
That thing is a BEAST!! Nice work gentleman!! You all work very well together. And, I enjoyed the laughs too!
Watching some of those hand and arm signals was frightening.

Heavy haul and big equipment is the industry I've been in my whole life. It blows me away that people think this whole off road recovery thing is so interesting, because it's amateur hour compared to the work I did before moving to Oregon. The off road recovery thing was just supposed to be a filler until I got another heavy haul setup after losing mine to a fire during the move, but then I started filming it and it took off WAY bigger than I was expecting/hoping.

Hey Casey !!! Yepper !!! Watched both Yours & Quinton's video as very impressive to see !!! 🤔🙄🤠😎👍👍👍👍👍
All of this content is totally out of my wheelhouse and experience. I watch every video all the way through. So educational. Thank you for sharing your life experiences and skills.
Casey I've been watching your channel for 2 or 3 years, and you keep surprising us with new things that you "used to do". Road graders?!?!?
I love to see people who really enjoy their jobs.
There is another aspect of hauling a load like this down the highway. You touched on one briefly- which is the escort car or truck also called a pilot car. These are cars with signs and revolving lights that either run in front or behind or sometimes as mentioned there are two cars. A load such as this as the sign on the back of the grader said" Wide Load" which means it takes up a lot of road. These kind of hauls require a permit - and theses are issued by each state the heavy haul drives through. These permits have to be issued in advance. Also- there are some days (national holidays) that heavy hauls are not allowed on the road. Another thing depending on the destination is bridges (most interstates are a certain height- but some state roads are lower. Also - the weight limit of a state road of the bridge (the heavy haul load may be too heavy for the bridge and the driver has to pick another way to go around). So basically if the load is too heavy you are not allowed to go from point A to B)
@haroldphipps3457
10 ай бұрын
All correct, except the routing. The state issuing the permit does the routing. If the load is tall and or wide, it is still best to pre-run the route. Sometimes bureaucratic screw ups occur.
@brypur8629

I recall watching a video years ago where the bridge deck surface actually visibly flattened as the heavy haul rolled through. Impressive engineering of the bridge to allow and support that.
Kurtis from Cutting Edge Engineering Australia likely knows it inside-out and has performed refurbishment on all of its moving parts!
Yes, that was big.....!! And nice to see you can drive it!
Wow - so many excellent things to comment on. First of all, thank you for a very informative explanation of the trailer and the load sharing axles - very informative. Next was the starting of the grader - absolutely love the sound of those big engines starting up like that (and the safety kill switch test). Next was watching Casey in action unloading that monster from the trailer, and the explanations of what and why it did what it did. Just an excellent video, and always fun to see Quinton in action.
Always something new and exciting on the channel!
Would love to see a video of rhe trailer being changed into a smaller trailer and what is involved and also include the length of the trailer carrying it's load to it's standard highway length with only all the trailer equipment on it.
7m 54 seconds. Safety check !!! 😆
I have always wondered how the axles at the back could "support" anything. Thanks to Casey I now know.
