Thank you for the video. Very informative and helpful. I noticed you mounted the swing parallel to the joist ( entire load on the same structure/ joist ) and I have the exact same situation in our patio. Does it make any difference if the swing is parallel or perpendicular ( in this case the load will be distributed on two joists but it also means lot of work and complications to center the swing ). Simple question, is it ok to have swing mounted parallel on the single joist ?

I would like to have an indoor swing on a new build living room. How to be sure that weight of the swing does not cause any structural damage? Could you please guide on all the factors to consider? Will a structural engineer be able to help? Any tips/guidance is appreciated

Thanks for this explanation. I'm working on a vinyl ceiling with the zip tool and can't get the vinyl loose. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I've reached in over the overlapping piece but after an hour of trying, still couldn't get the vinyl to release. What am I doing wrong?

Its not easy. That vinyl becomes stiff with age, but you should still be able to separate the pieces... Just be careful if you think its going to crack.

Great video. Do you have any tips for reinstalling the vinyl? I have the tool but it’s really difficult putting it back together.

You may have to give it a little pressure, but it should snap back over the previous piece. You can try sharp yanks on it to see if it will seat, but don't get too rough. It gets brittle with age. Probably not much help, but hopefully you got it handled.

Is the 2x4 on the truss strong enough to hold the swing?

In most cases, yes. So long as its not a super long run (more than 8 feet or so), it should be good to go. You can get a good feel for it by just grabbing it and seeing just how sturdy it is.

Is there any reason I couldn't just use eye screws instead of eye bolts?

You would most likely never have an issue, but screws run the risk of stripping out over time. A bolt pretty much removes the risk.
