How to HAMMER the ball for EASY forehand POWER! Hammer It Tennis 2.0!

In this video, Coach Daniel shows you how to use the Hammer to get your arm in a stronger position that will get you more power on your forehand, increase your consistency, and help get your contact out in front for maximum leverage! By showing you how to use the Hammer to practicing your forehand, you will naturally begin to get your contact out in front. This will stop the overuse of your forearm muscles and help reduce or stop tennis elbow.
If you are tired of practicing for hours and hours or if you have taken lessons for years with little to no results, the problem is most likely your contact! If you cannot hit the ball consistently out in front of your body repeatedly, then your forehand will fall apart! Getting this consistency is not as hard as you may believe, or as time consuming as your local pro wants you to believe! By using a simple hammer most players will automatically know where the elbow needs to be naturally! This is the KEY to a consistent contact point! Getting your elbow in the correct position becomes natural and second nature using the hammer.
Following Coach Daniel's step by step progression practice method at the service line helps show you how to set up and where the contact point should be. Use the lines of the court to help aid your practice. Using a Slinger Bag or other ball machine is a great way to learn. After you've been able to practice with the hammer, soon you'll be HAMMERING THE BALL!

This has always been one of my favorite videos. I just noticed now the Tournagrip on the sledgehammer. 🤠

Excellent mental concept of explanation of forehand. It would appear the concept could be applied to the backhand and to the volleys?

Thanks. And I understand this. But in real time matchplay esp high balls... The body prep is late and I end up arming the ball🙆

As soon as you know which shot you are hitting you should begin to prepare for that shot. Many players wait until the ball is about to bounce or has already bounced to begin turning and setting up for a particular shot. I try to hit as many forehands as possible, this is my best shot and therefore it is higher percentage for me to hit it, so that way I can hit a forehand and then remain ready to hit another forehand. If I know with a decent amount of certainty what type of shot I am hitting next I will not completely reset and return to the middle of the court. Also check out this video on high ball technique that might help you out! kzread.info/dash/bejne/nYF9laiAqdunmbQ.html

thanks for this! It looks like this might work better for a western grip than an eastern? How could we adapt for eastern grip? Also, how do you achieve racket lag when it seems that the power is coming from straightening the elbow? Much appreciated

A western grip is more for designed for hitting with the elbow lower than the hand. An Eastern or Semi-Western allow for the hand (and grip) to remain more inline with the arm and elbow which is the point of the hammer motion. Also by hammering, you get lag, which is created by the angle of the wrist (this is why you get power when you use an actual hammer). Setting the angle around 90ish degrees to the forearm also helps get the racquet to come from the inside of the target line. Be sure to check out the other videos with more concepts that are used. This video isn't really meant to be viewed in a vacuum, but rather as one of the Hammer It Method series. kzread.info/head/PL4EFDvXAXAhtmwxf1T8fRGm21mrleT4-L Thanks for the great questions!

    Hammer grip vs Pistol grip?

You want the grip to run more at an angle through the hand vs just through the fingers. The racquet should be able to make more of a straight line when extended through the forearm to the elbow vs holding it in a manner that makes a 90 degree angle at the hand with the forearm.

Do you still use your Pure Aero 2016 or you totally switch. Did you also have arm problems with the 2016 version? Would be very interested in your opinion on this. Thanks very much

To be honest I don't really use my Pro Staff V13 much anymore other than for some videos because its in better shape lol. I do not have any arm problems from any racquet, but that is mostly due to my technique which puts little stress on my arm. I really like my Pure Aero alot and I tried to switch but I couldn't get the feel of that pop that the Pure Aero gives. In my opinion it is definitely one of the best racquets ever made.

@@HammerItTennis thank you very much for your honest answer. I also always play aero. Only the 2016 series gave me arm problems, which I very much regretted, because iI completely agree that this is the best aero/racket I've played so far. Maybe I will try again, if necessary with a softer string like Dunlop black widow. But first I have to look on ebay to see if I can get hold of the bat. Maybe you have too much in your pocket and can sell me one😊
