I agree that getting to the point is sooo important and avoiding using a phony ' vocal fry' voice. Croaking voice is annoying
So helpful, thank you. And timely. This is exactly what I am going to do in my square foot garden. I did allot two square feet to the zucchini, but it would be nice to have room at the base to plant other things. I just did something similar with my tomato plant, except I used twine and clips instead of a stake, clipping the main tomato stem to the twine, and attaching the string to the top of my hoop cage that is over my raised bed. It's a little late to go to ag college at the age of 73, so I'm going to KZread University instead. I learn so much. I appreciate you.

I started my courgette plant yesterday growing up a stake. Mulched it with dead leaves and deep watered it. Checked it this morning and there are 8 flowers and 2 courgettes! Yesterday there was 1 flower. Amazing!
Exactly the information I was looking for, presented clearly and without endless fluff about great gran’s garden or the latest doings of the cat. Thank you.

Wow well that solves an issue I have been struggling with for years now. Vertical zukes who knew such a thing was possible many thanks for the info my friend!
Thanks. Im going to try this right now. I was on my way out to the garden to plant more seed, we're trying the three sisters also this year. Thanks a lot for a new good idea. Blessings.
Wow I must admit I'm trying this one
Awesome video! Very informative! I have read elsewhere that you should ideally prune the lower leaves close to the main stalk so there is not those big holes sticking out which might harbor pests/disease.
appreciate so much your concise information which is spot on to real garden issues. Thanks!

Hi Annie! Great to know you have been using this method too! Happy growing!
Thank you for this informative video. I am often having issues with squash bugs and was looking to get my squashes off the ground. I will be wrapping aluminum foil around the base of the plant about 10 inches with about 2 inches of it burried in the dirt. This way I can keep them from sucking on the stalk. I am going to row cover the plant while young until it has grown enough that the bottom leaves are no longer touching the ground. This also will help me get 20 plants into my 20 foot space instead of only 10. With food costs to go up this next year I am wanting to grow a years worth of food. So thanks for this video as most square foot gardening information shows you 2 feet of space while you showed me it can be done on 1 foot.
I battle mildew on my zucchini and I am going to try this because I suspect it will help that! Thank you!
So simple yet so useful! Thank You
Will definitely try this vertical planting since I’m tired of overgrown leaves which take up so much land space and zucchini with bad sides from sitting on the ground. . It will also allow me to plant more than just one plant. I’m so glad I found your video.

Very helpful video, I think I'm going to do exactly this with my 2 zucchini plants. They are sprouting inside now and I've been wondering where I'll put them! Last year I saved the stalks from a few giant sunflowers and stashed them in the garage to dry out. If they look good and study I'll grow the zukes up 2 of those.

Great tip about putting steaks in on the south side of the plant. This was my first year growing climbing courgettes with some success, however I noticed all the plants were growing in a southerly direction. Looking forward to 2024 season to improve the climbing capability, increase the yield, reduce infection and reduce the footprint. Great video. Thanks.

Thanks, I may have to try that next year because I think it would help with my Vine borer problem. I can put a thick layer of Diatomaceous Earth on the ground around the stem if I create it vertically

@@lifeonmockingbirdhill I didn't try it but I have found a solution ...I am growing a squash called tromboncino. The vine is more like a cucumber so the vine borers don't mess with it. I have seeds from last year if you are in the US I can try mailing some. I showed the vine in some of my garden tours last year...and I might have some videos in a play list too. Let me know if you can't find it.

Interesting! We have the most viscous squash bugs that are impossible to kill in Albuquerque. They hide at the bottom of the plant but this method may make it easier to keep them under control. I will try it! Thank you for sharing!
@user-fs5lc2dl7t
4 жыл бұрын
I have grown my zucchini this way for years in Albuquerque's North Valley...this makes it so much easier to spot the bugs without having to lean way over or get down on the ground....the very young look like almost like little spiders and a spray bottle of soapy water will do them in nicely...for the mature bugs spray with the soapy water to force them out where it slows them down enough for you to pick them off and drop into a container of soapy water... any patches of little beady eggs can be carefully cut out from a leaf with a sharp knife and dropped into the soapy water also...and a leaf with a hole in it will survive just fine....
Thank you so much buddy
I like the idea and I'm going to try even if my garden is not small.
