Oiling your hair too much can stunt/put a stop to your growth! Too much oil clogs your hair pours girl.. oil at least 2-3 times a week, not daily.

It depends if your hair likes it or not i oil my scalp every single day dont miss a day , & my hair been growing like crazy plus i think my hair just likes it oily if i dont put enough or miss a day my shit will be brittle dry , my hair be talking back like “aht aht bitch where that mf oil at”

I left my braids in for a long time and growed more than a inch

For years I didn't understand why my hair was so thin and I experience so much shedding , and thinning when I wear braids. I posted my hair in q group after my braids were taken down and the main comments I received was leaving them in too long. For my hair , for my entire life ( I've worn then consistently all my life) I would leave braids up for MIN 8 weeks... I tried 6 weeks and I still experience a bit of shedding, I went down to 4 weeks and I had min shedding and a ton if growth. Also the less oils etc, the more it grew. Oil brings dirt, dirt brings build up which can cause breakage. Too much oil or products on my hair type causes breakage as well. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Yes I believe you my hair grew 1 inch in a week too when I moisturize my hair everyday, oiling it everyday with a light oil and spraying it with water whenever it gets dry. To some of us this is true 👍

I was tryna see what to do when hair grows fast with braids.

I have had my hair in for like 6 7 weeks not joke I really want my hair to grow then I got new braids. And my hair grew like 3 inches

It depends on your hair. I oil my scalp everyday because it gets very dry and irritated when I have braids and I always oil at night to give it some time to absorb into my scalp. If your scalp is very itchy and tight use more oil, if you see the oil is not absorbing into your scalp and stays on top after a few hours try to oil your hair less, maybe once every few days. Try to listen to your hair it will tell you what it needs! ✨

also, if the oils are sitting on your scalp, try investing in lighter oil

And if you have a growth oil do you know if its the braids or the oil that grew your hair

On “average” 1/2inch which means that some people might experience a bit more. My hair has been in braids for 3 week and has grown more than 1/2 and inch for sure! for the first time ever… so you just never know

I doubt you’re more intelligent than science. The MAX hair can grow is 1/2 inches per month. Sometimes LESS, but never more. This is SCIENTIFICALLY proven.

An average means give or take, “the bulk” of the population. Respectfully you should do your research again. Cause even when you read these papers you will find that there are factors which can lead to enhanced or reduced hair growth outside this half an inch rate. I had a roomate who grew hair longer in 1 year than i’f grown 5 years of my life and that was no half inch growth.

Symplii Martha, you’re still unfortunately wrong. Hair always grows. Most black people just don’t know how to MAINTAIN that hair growth, but hair is always growing. It’s always growing but it never exceeds 1/2 inche per month.
