Your hair really is very beautiful. I've been trying to use less heat on my hair because I also noticed it started growing and looking healthier when I cut back. But I also love my hair curled because it's so fine and thin and it gives me volume. I'm trying the heatless curls tonight 🤞 hoping it looks good! Your hair before looks so similar to mine now.

I’m a curly girl and seriously, do NOT wash your hair to often! I wash my hair barley once a week, sometimes not even in two weeks, it’s not dirty, greasy or smell bad. When you first stop washing your hair every day it’s going to be and feel greasy but it will disappear within a month. Use a tiny bit of dry shampoo every third day or so in the beginning if you can’t stand the greasiness but I promise you all that your hair will be and feel so much healthier. I don’t even use shampoo very often, just conditioner and leave-in products AND wear a bonnet over night ( if you prefer a silky pillowcase use that instead), I just say you will never sleep without a bonnet again! (I’m from Sweden so please excuse my English grammar 😅)

@@Rebeccachazzy curly hair is generally dryer than other hair types, what works for one person may not work for another. Try to wash only 2 times a week if you can or 3. A greasy scalp not being cleaned can also cause scalp issues.

Best hair care video ever! I had bells going off with every tip! Amazingly logical, gentle, and safe. Question, some hair is fine and thin, is hair spray damaging? I try never to use it but hey it’s the only thing I’ve found that holds a curl. But the next day I feel like the hair is spun glass. Feels horrifically drying. I’m using a hair salon spray. On the subject of supplements - like collagen or biotin - girlfriend, when you get to be my age (62) you will absolutely need to take extra supplements in addition to a healthy diet. My hair is stronger now than it was when I was in my 30s and that's because I take 3 different types of collagen, + biotin. Totally agree with all your tips! Brushing your natural oils through your hair is GOOD for it. I only wash my hair about 1x/2 weeks. Of course as we age, our hair tends to get less oily, and in the winter time I wash about 1x/month! I know! RIGHT? How disgusting - but seriously, I have very fine/thin hair so washing a lot is a no-no. I do use dry shampoo which has the added bonus of giving my hair texture. Your videos are awesome! Thanks for sharing all your pretty styles and good tips!

All very good tips! I'd also like to add this: Be a good judge of what your hair needs most, be it hydrating or strengthening and try to find a healthy balance. I've been using shampoos, conditioners, masks, etc, targeted at long hair - length and strength, "Dream Lengths", you name it. Been using those for quite a while, until....my hair starting getting tangled more due to lack of moisture and a buildup of..PROTEIN! Lol. Be careful of overusing products containing hydrolyzed wheat protein, soy protein, the list goes on. Some drugstore products are better than others. I like Aussie - the 3 Minute Miracle deep conditioner rockss! Pantene Pro V Daily Moisture Renewal and currently Dove Daily Moisture are really good. I use Aussie Hair Insurance leave in conditioner sometimes for detangling. Hey, whatever provides slip and moisture. 😊

I use those two Aussie products too, and I used Pantene Pro V for dyed hair until I switched to a shampoo bar. I'm growing my hair long to donate, so I'm trying to take good care of it. The Aussie products work great and they smell so good! I had two people in the space of a week tell me my hair smells good when I was using the Pantene and Aussie products. One was a guy in a bar who was standing behind me and just smelling my head--I'm only 5 feet tall--until I saw my friends giving him funny looks. That was weird. The other was a coworker, so that was OK. 😊

Example: #pensacolahairstylist then I would go through hundreds of pictures 😂then I would find someone that looked good, stalk them (their hair page and personal, if they weren’t private), and stalk the salon they work at. Always go for a consultation first to see if you would even like the person. A good relationship with your hairstylist is so important!!

This video was so helpful! I have thick but fine hair, too, and I'm growing it long to donate, so I want to keep it healthy and get it to grow fast. I started using a shampoo bar a year or so ago, and my hair feels a lot softer, plus the bars are made without all that nasty stuff on your list. (They're great for travel too!) Have you tried shampoo bars? What are your thoughts on them? I only wash my hair once a week, or if I'm lazy, two weeks. I work from home, so I stopped blow-drying my hair a year or so ago. Between that and the shampoo bars, my hair is so soft that I lost a hair fork because it slid out of my bun without me noticing. It's down to the top of my butt crack (sorry), and I'm going to let it grow to see how long I can get it before I donate it. I try to avoid styles like ponytails that pull on the hair at the front, plus they give me a headache, so I usually just do a braid or a bun. I try not to do the same thing with my hair more than a couple days in a row so I don't stress the same spots for too long. I just watched your 60-second styles for long hair videos, and I'm definitely going to try some of them. I'm not very talented at styling my hair and I don't have much patience for it, so those videos are just what I need. Next up are your heatless curls videos. Maybe I'll find a way that makes curls that actually stay in my hair!

I use oil like you and hardly ever use heat. I’m still struggling with terrible nothing!!!!! Ugh! I start like you at the bottom I have a feta gel brush. I don’t know WHY my hair gets so tangled!!! I have not tried that container by Aveda your using I guess I will try it see if it helps.

I have very tangly hair too! My hair is thin but I have a lot of it. I use the tangle teezer wet brush and it’s my favorite, ever! I might also suggest brushing your hair before you get in the shower, then once your in the shower, only shampoo your scalp (not your ends) and just let the shampoo slide down the rest of your hair. Then use a conditioner and then a hair mask. This helps me, so hopefully it will help you! ❤️

  • @lisagd22

That seems like the opposite of what you should do--I thought heat damaged your hair, so how would letting it air dry damage it? I work from home, so I've been letting my hair air dry for a couple years, and it seems fine. It definitely feels softer when I let it air dry.

I stopped using shampoo many years ago and initially your scalp makes more sebum because the shampoo strips your hair and then puts waxes on it but after a while it stops producing too much oil and then I use a boars hair brush daily to pull the oils through and take out dust and whatever is in the air out of my hair. I do use water a couple of times a week to rinse my hair usually there are a couple of other things I do but in the process of getting your hair to adjust to not having shampoo you can also put some baking soda in your hair a little bit lightly and work it through to absorb oils and if you have darker hair put a little cocoa powder in it. It was a process over time. I have a decent amount of hair however the hair itself is fine so it was looking really weighted down when I used shampoo. I did go through the process of just cutting out the conditioner first and then I used to use something called miracle two in my bathwater and that’s all I use for a while and then I quit using soaps in my hair except after doing oil treatments which I use usually coconut oil or olive oil and I sometimes will use shampoo to wash those out or Dr. Bronner‘s soap sometimes works too. I absolutely love these videos aren’t they great! Lainey are so sweet and adorable and you make it really simple and you get to the point in your videos and I appreciate you very much thank you. 😮

I love this! One question though…do you have naturally straight, wavy, curly hair? Wondering bc you said you don’t use a hair dryer (which I’ve been doing less also) and bc you only wash your hair once a week (same). I have naturally curly that tends to be on the drier side.

I’m a curly girl and honestly, do NOT wash your hair to often! I wash my hair barley once a week, sometimes not even in two weeks,it’s not dirty, greasy or smell bad. When you first stop washing it every day it’s going to be and feel greasy but it will disappear within a month.

As someone with chronic illness I can say this is wrong. Natural skin oils build up, clog your pores and hair follicles. The natural hair oils will make sticky balls of sebum that stick to your hair and rip it as you try to brush it out. Your hair will not grow as well and not as healthy, it will usually start thinning and falling out. Not to mention, to get that amount of build up off your scalp, you have to shampoo multiple times which is a lot harsher. Once a week sure, use a gentle shampoo and shampoo twice maybe three times. Preferably every other day/every third day. Once every 2 weeks has no benefits. There’s no proof it has any benefits. But there is LOTS of proof of the amount of damage it causes. Not trying to come off as rude, just a friendly PSA to anyone thinking there is some untapped scientific proof. There isn’t, just look at anyone with a chronic illness that prevents them from completing basic hygiene.

@@jjbowman4653 Someone like myself then, I have bipolar disorder, gad and adhd, that makes me chronically I’ll. Who’s talking about scientific proof here, I wrote what’s working for ME and what MINE hair routine look like. My hair is bleached, colored and curly and as you can see on my picture it’s also LONG, waist lenght actually. Let me see if I understand your complaints correctly, the hair gets so full of grease from not washing it every day that it will rip off when you brush it? It will clog up the hair follicles and scalp so bad that it’s impossible to grow healthy hair? Are you presenting these scientific PROOF that my technique is a danger to life and health just to say that all humans with health issues is going to be bald within a short period of time if they don’t wash their hair daily? What’s the difference between shampooing your hair twice at the same time ( which is not needed) once a week or shampooing 3 times the same week exempt from your skin and hair being dry from all the washing and drying? Washing the hair ones a week doesn’t equal showering only once a week, it’s actually possible to shower without wetting the hair.

@misslolitastar no need to get defensive I said not to be rude for a reason. I am quite sick, disgusted really, at people who promote bad hygiene habits. People believe it, try it, and wonder why their hair is falling out, thinning, and lookes dirty. what you should understand is what I have written, I wrote it very plainly. There is no reason to be as angry as you are, I am trying to help people. obviously not yourself, as you clearly do not enjoy recieving any form of constructive criticism at all. Ontop of all that. who said anything about showering? or getting your hair wet? you are so mad, you have begun assuming things and you have cut off your nose to spite your face. Because the majority of your self insert story makes no sense. I cannot understand what your talking about when your thoughts are written incomplete. That's nice that you have chronic illnesses, would you like a goldstar? for me to tell you that "you win"? you seem very proud of yourself for that? By any means, it doesn't mean you need to act like a brat.
