We show you how Vanilla Vines were grown in this shade house to produce Vanilla Pods. It is only 3 years old. Also we show how Preparing the Soil and hand pollination techniques produce a thriving vanilla plantation.

Vanilla is actually native to Central America- not Madagascar. Madagascar just happens to be the worlds largest producer of vanilla

In addition, the first human cultivation seems to have been in Mexico. But, you know colinizers. They show up and claim everything as their own. Not to take anything away from this small farm. It's impressive.

@@racif ahh no this is not true. But what does make the civilization and agriculture that developed in the Americas so special is that they developed it completely independently! In the old world agriculture and civilization was developed in the Middle East and then spread to other parts of the world. So for example Europeans didn’t invent agriculture on their own, they were taught agriculture.
It's native to Mexico not Madagascar. There is a tiny little bee that naturally pollinates the flowers and it's only found in a very small area in Mexico. It's important to tell the real information as vanilla is struggling a lot to survive in its natural environment here in Mexico. We have to make awareness about this.

@@chasingamurderer Yes, I have a vanilla startup that sells orchids nation wide in Mexico, we also make short educational videos about this plant and I'm also working with Larousse Mexico to create a documentary about vanilla.
Hallo, I'm from Indonesia. We love vanilla 😍
Vanilla is actually native to Mexico and Central America and is pollinated by the stingless Melipona bee, cultivated by the Maya. Since these bees are only found in the Americas the vanilla grown in Madagascar has to be hand pollinated.
Native to Mexico where there is a tiny bee that pollinates the flower that only lives there. That's why everywhere else you have to pollinate it yourself since that bee only lives there.
Haha, yesterday snowed were I live. There it goes mi dream of having vanilla
nice, thanks for your sharing
Amazing! I live in the Algarve and I sure will try to grow it one of this days! Thank you!
wow so elegant
Great work excellent video
How did you plant it like that? I want to grow them at home too. It would really be a great help if you can demonstrate how you started planting it, and how you fertilize and moisturize it. Most videos here in KZread only shows vanillas grown on open land (not enclosed space) and with a leguminous Tree hosts which I don't have at home.

Did you end up getting a vanilla bean vine? I have had one over a year now in my lounge room window and it’s just in a pot of orchid mix and it’s thriving. I have it growing up a coconut husk pole too. It is super easy to look after. I just water when it’s dry and then use the orchard slow release fertilizer pellets. I didn’t even need to fertilize it for the first year cos the soil it came with had plenty of nutrients still and the spring tails that it came with I truly think are helping it stay healthy as they eat mould and fungi etc. So the soil stays fungus and mould free thanks to them little spring tails. I have put them in all my plants now to keep bad fungi at bay and it’s working well I think. The spring tails are not a bother to me as they don’t leave the pot which is amazing. As long as they have water and food in the pot they won’t leave and roam all over your home. I have never ever seen one crawling around out of the pot before which is pretty cool cos most bugs would be all over your home but not these guys they just stay in that moist potting mix.

Very noice. I would just adaw an Aussie accent. I am going to try, no.... I will get on with this next month. Believe me, it will be "tropical" in Sept over here well into December. Can't stand the hot weather, but I can make that up with gardening, which I love, 365/1

When there is a cyclone, can you lay the vanilla post down with the vine.

How do you grow it from seed?
Hi, I live in Greece. Is there possibility to grow vanilla root? For example, I grow here passion fruit, papaya, banana, coffee tree. Is there a chance? Of course, in the summer, I don't have humidity but is the greenhouse helping? Thank you.

@NMW80

How did ya go? Did you grow some? You should even be able to grow them outside cos you can grow banana etc so I’m pretty sure if you let it grow up a tree so it has the canopy to protect it from frost it would just fine. It doesn’t have to have high humidity to survive. I have one in my home in the lounge window and it is thriving and it’s not super humid inside my house but I guess it is a little humid. As long as you keep it watered and give it good orchard potting mixture and something to climb up you should be okay. If I was you I was try growing it in a pot outside next to a tree with plenty of foliage to protect the vanilla when it gets too hot or too cold.
Can i grow in Hungary?
