I did chives like this.. after realizing that was way too much,I discovered what beautiful flowers they get,lol.. now I have these wonderful pink and white flowers with the fresh oniony smell growing in my kitchen..
Go to the grocery store and buy a pack of ' green onions ' and then when you eat them cut off the green part and replant the bottom white part . They will regrow new green stems at which point all you do is cut the green stems off again and regrow them again . They are never ending unless you live in a cold climate , grow these all spring , summer and autumn .

Mine survived the winter. I planted them on the ground and the green and whites parts are very thick and tall. They just gotten bigger and bigger. The white part is the width of my 4:46 . It seems the more space they have the larger they grow.

Or you could simply just cut the tops and leave the rest in the ground to regrow.

Hello. Well assuming You are going to grow outdoors, yes. Indoors, if You can control Your watering properly, no. But outdoors, when it rains too much and the water can't get out, it will create a mud and roots will die. Thank You for watching 🙂
first time growing for me... Does it matter if my pot of seeds get soaking in a heavy rain downpour? or have rain for several days? (I'm in the UK).
@Liap
Жыл бұрын
Hello, that depends on how well-draining soil mix is in that pot. If it becomes soggy, seedsmay rot. If You have this option, cover them from rain. At least until they sprout.

Do you recommend growing it from the ground? (First time)
@Liap

Hello, yes definitely! Spring onions love well draining soil that doesn't become too soggy after rain. And plenty of sun 🌞
So you can keep growing them forever as long as you leave the roots in the dirt?
@Liap
3 ай бұрын
Well, not forever. It's better to start new ones from seeds after like 5 harvests.

Can we get any onion bulb if we keeping them in suitable pot?
@Liap
Жыл бұрын
This variety doesn’t grow significant bulbs, but there are other varieties of spring onions that does, if the space allows them to. And yes you can grow these “bulby” spring onions in containers too.
Do you leave this outside? Or bring it out ?

Hello, no it’s not normal. It is probably living off some decaying stuff in the soil. Make sure you don’t eat it and wash Your onion harvest before eating.
Hi can we get seeds from spring onion flowers?

Hello. Yes if they get pollinated. Spring onions are biennials, so their second year they should produce flowers and after successfull pollination, seeds.

Does it need drain holes in the pots?
@Liap

Well, they are recommended. Unless You can water them just right amount, not to make the water sit at the bottom. It will cause roots to rot.

Hello, I am not advertising anything, though I am making options for others, who may not have access to some things. You can grow plants without peat or coconut coir, they can help, but are not essential. Thank you very much! ☺

I have read that the fertilizer is poisonous? Do you know any natural ones?

It's nitrates that are poisonous part of fertilizers. I use fish mix, it's pretty much balanced fertilizer.
