    You ever have any trouble with chloramine? I had zero issues with my 175ppm tap water for years on everthing, could grow tons of kratky lettuce with no issues on masterblend. Did an indoor grow last winter and the only thing that did good was kale. Everything else got brown spots on yhe older leaves and didn't do that good. Looks like im going to have to go to ro water.

    That’s weird, you’d think that stuff would off-gas after a period of time. That’s why I blow air into the water for 24 hrs before adding the nutrient. RO is sure fire. But that’s odd, that all the sudden you had issues...hmmm

    @@IndoorHydroponix yea, I even tryed a uv light at one point. Couldn't nail it down as to what it was, going to try a smal scale lettuce grow with ro soon. I doubt masterblend fertilizer goes bad or my diluted phosphoric acid that a use for ph adjustment.

    Yes , indoor hydro test dummy....great title. Hydroponic is so much trial snd mostly errror. Only certain crop can produce well. The mess, labor, power, space, is not worth it to me. Also you have to use water soluble chemical fertilizer only. Non organic hydro farming👎🏾

    Great video man! I'm having some difficulties to grow cucumbers hydroponically. I tried english cucumbers, libanese cucumber (beit alpha f1), Passandra f1.... all perfect for greenhouse environment. The leaves slowly dies from the bottom to the end (starting with edge yellowing and leaf spotting). They also tend to curl downward instead of staying straight and flat. I have a Mars Hydro Reflector LED grow light, a grow tent with good ventilation setup, and i keep an average temperature of 22C. I use a very clean NFT + drippers system... I first dechlorinate my water (tap water with less than 70 ppm) and I use General Hydroponics Flora Series 3-part fertilizer. I tried different nutrient solution recipes (included recommended ones). Also tried to add Epsom salt, even though it's not required with the FloraSeries 3-part fertilizer. I use a PPM meter and a pH meter (pH 6) when I carefully mix my solution * using the recommended method ***. I string them and remove suckers regularly. I don't understand why I can't keep my plants healthy... I get tons of baby cucumbers on the plants, but I can't get more than a few cucumbers before the plants die. I'm not sure if it's too much/not enough Nitrogen/Magnesium/Calcium... I don't know if it's root stress... too much wind... or if the cucumbers simply don't like my LED light. I tried also different hanging heights for my LED grow light.. since the plants were bushing instead of growing up. I also had the same problems using the Kratky method and also with DWC in 5-gallon buckets. Cucumbers is supposed to work very well in all of these methods!!! I would love to get your opinions/advices on that. Thanks!

    hey man that was an awesome and thorough video. answered allot of my questions about this method indoors for things other than leafy greens, i knew things that fruit would demand way way more water and i am surprised you didn't need to refill that. i have seen outdoor grows doing tomatos and peppers that have needed to be re-filled making it not true kratky, but i had one question and hopefully it doesn't infringe on any personal veiw points, but i live in a legal cannabis state and was wondering if this method would work without the need for refill using 1 gallon containers per plant for the 2 months of flowering. i am starting that experiment now, and i think i undershot the bucket after seeing this. cannabis won't drink like a cucumber and they will be small plants(two feet by harvest) in the 1 gallon buckets, basically immediatly after clone they are flowered for 2 months. that's all i need em to last. . do you have any opinion or advice on this matter regarding using the kratky for a flowering plant. i realize the type of plant is not your area so any advice on the kratky part would be appreciated. i subbed by the way. your channel looks good. i was tired of ppl starting projects only to disapear halfway through lol

    I am trying the same thing actually, with my 5 year old who has been interested in plants since she could speak. How much water do you think it would take to sustain the two plants over the length of the cucumber's life cycle? I'd like to help my daughter and I'm learning what I can to teach her, but it would be easier on my sanity if I could just invest in a few large containers vs fiddling with refills for her :). Great videos, thank you for all your testing!

    I am a very experienced organic gardener on a quest to grow even just ONE cucumber in an area where I have tried for years and even growing under full cover where no cucumber beetles can get in, I have never gotten even one cucumber! So now onto growing indoors since I can hopefully keep the wilts and mildews off! I have an LED fixture that I got this year and also the usual 48" grow lights, and saw you used metal halide. My question is, how far away from the top of the plants did you keep the light, I assume you raised it with the growth to keep that distance? Can I ask what brand light you have, any links to buy it? Do you think it would grow under tubes or LED? I already have some parthenocarpic cuke seeds including picolino, and the light distance was the only thing I didn't see discussed. Also, did you just use tap water or filtered water? And one last question - what brand cal-mag did you use? Thank you for giving me hope!!!

Been thinking of getting a grow tent for cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers etc. Trying to figure out how much water / plant I should use. Also, when it comes to the containers. Do the shape matter? I have noticed on my grows that adding aeration to the tub REALLY supercharges growth. Just a small aquarium air pump makes a HUGE difference and they only draw about 4-7 watts. Some pumps have 2 outlets, so you could aerate 2 totes with 1 pump. I use 6in air stones that are cheap on Ebay (one per tote).

    @indoor_hydroponix is it ok to use compost tea with the kratky method..

  • @IndoorHydroponix

    @IndoorHydroponix

    8 жыл бұрын

    I like compost tea a lot for outdoor soil applications. But I wouldn't recommend it inside for a kratky set up, way to many things could go wrong. A true kratky set up does not provide aeration. Actively aerated compost tea harbors (when done right) mostly beneficial bacteria. Once the sugars are consumed and without aeration, bacteria turns anaerobic and that's bad. Plus it would smell bad. In addition, I don't know if straight compost tea would provide enough nutrient to reach a plants potential.

  • @davidmultimedia2024

    @davidmultimedia2024

    6 жыл бұрын

    Indeed, it wouldn't be sufficient to grow healthy plants to maturity. Compost tea is better used as a supplement. It may not contain every single micronutrients that plants need.

    That's what I want to know...I didn't meang the price of the lights just meant the electricity cost of using them and fertilizer vs buying 32 cucumbers

    A good thing to get is an energy meter, if you get a good one you can instert your electricity bill rate and it will calculate the costs for you, if not, find out your electricity rate and do some maths :)

    By my calculation the cost of electricity and nutrients alone would make the cost about $2 per cuke. Wonder if an LED grow light would make it more economical.

    I wonder how much weight these plants gain from just sucking the carbon out of the air.
