I bought some hydrangeas on a good sale because the leaves and flowers are gone. What should I look for when I plant these. Zone 9 B North California

I thought acid was pink and alkaline is blue....

Correct. But that applies to litmus paper test. For Hydrangea it is the reverse.

Why doesn't my Hydrangeas ever flower ?

Hey Carol, it could be for a few different reasons. Hydrangeas don't bloom if they have incorrect pruning, bud damage due to winter and/or early spring weather, location and too much fertilizer.
