Biggest problem growing garlic was that it takes soo long to grow. It's great to grow over winter , but make sure you don't grow in the space you will need during your next growing season.
Also, when the scape stands up straight, it is another indicator your garlic is ready.
My husband and I found a field full of garlic that my late father in-law had in the back of his land. It's everywhere. My question is it's so thick, will we be able to harvest any? It's growing so compact, I'm afraid it won't mature. Would it be a good time to thin it out right now?
I'm growing garlic this year for the very first time, I've watched it do exactly what it's supposed to do until the 8th month, I didn't realize I planted it in a place where it would be shaded out in spring 😢 the stalks are so thick, please help is there anything I could or should do? All suggestions welcome😊

We would suggest to water regularly during dry periods, remove any scapes that appear and pull any weeds that may compete for water and nutrients.
Question? What if i plant my garlic, leave it in the refrigerator for awhile, put it in the freezer, and then take it out? Does that work, im doing a garden for the first time here and would love to grow it but i think im late to season.

Depending on your region, it may be too late to start planting garlic as a crop. However, you can still plant garlic cloves to enjoy "green garlic," which is similar to scallions.
i've had some garlic in the ground for almost a year and it has green growth, but no garlic bulbs. It has many crowded plants clinging together. I dug it up and have divided the clumps into individual plants. Can I plant it again and will it produce garlic bulbs?

I did it all wrong. I'm going to try again this fall or winter since I live in Central Florida.
