How To Grow Golden Berry From Seed | Starting Physalis Peruviana - 27.01.2017

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I got some Golden berries so it is time to germinate the seeds and grow Golden berry plants from them.
Golden berry seeds are very small that is why this time I am going to plant them right into soil and I skip the paper towel method.
☆ Watch the Seeds and Seedlings Video Serie for more seedlings here: • Germinating seeds
♡ Please support this channel (more options below): www.paypal.me/EAdrienn Thank You!
I meditate for 5 minutes for everyone who donates in order to live in health, abundance and Love. 🙏 ♡
☆ The other name of Golden berry is Physalis Peruviana but you can also find it as Cape gooseberry or Inca berry.
☆ The berries are only edible once they are ripe and has a golden color. The whole plant is poisonous!
☆ Learn more about Golden berries on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physali...
Inside the fruit you will find many tiny seeds. You can collect these seeds easily by putting them into water, and removing the fruit flesh from them.
Pour off the water then put the seeds on a clean paper towel. Dry the seeds between the paper towel by gently tapping them.
Prepare a pot and some all purpose soil then sow the seeds onto the soil and cover it with a thin layer of extra soil.
I watered the seeds from the top using a spray bottle. This way the soil will not be washed away from the seeds. I also watered the soil from the bottom.
Keep the soil slightly wet and very soon the golden berry seedlings will appear.
Thank you for watching this video! I will show you the seedlings very soon.
If you have any questions about germinating these berries, let me know in the comments.

I saved some Goldenberry seeds and an easy technique is to blend the whole fruit in a food processor. Then pour the whole mixture in a bowl with water. The seeds drop to the bottom and the fruit/skin mush will float to the top. You can simply slowly pour out the mush adding more water as needed to further clean the seeds. Then just dry the seeds on some cheese cloth before storage. This technique works for other Physalis species like tomatillo and groundcherry.

There are different types of ground cherries. The best tasting one is poha berry. They are supposed to have fuzzy leaves. I grew some seeds I bought online and the plant had smooth leaves but fuzzy stems with a stripe through them. The fruit tasted bad, they had an awful aftertaste. I pulled the plants out and planted seeds from the store bought fruit. The plants that came up have fuzzy leaves which matches the poha berry description so I think they will taste good.

Yes, these are gooseberries. :) I have not yet tried goji berries. Have they germinated for you? I don't have any fruits yet since I grow plants indoors and the trees need more years to grow fruit (the citrus trees for example). My indoor space is not ideal for that I think. But I plan to sell the young fruit trees/plants I am growing now in a local farmers market and I also plan to give away a few for family members.

Break it open like that but throw the halves in a dehydrator for 12to14 hrs. Then you have easy method of seeds. Some may need to be less then that time. So check on them every hour after the 8 hour mark. If dry enough to rub seeds off skin then they are almost ready to possibly being ready. Next you let set for 3 days in open air to give them a relax time before germination. Also I love some seeds to whatever anyone has to send me just message me

The two names are often used interchangeably which adds to confusion. My understanding is: Ground Cherry is Physalis pruinosa, its lower growing and the fruits fall to the ground where they complete ripening. Goldenberry is Physalis peruviana, its much taller and the fruits don't readily drop when ripe. There are lots of wild Physalis species (many of which are also edible) which are often called "ground-cherries" locally, but the above two are most commonly cultivated. Where I live, the shorter climate favors the P. pruinosa cultivation where true goldenberries are rare. I grew them with mixed results last summer.

I planted those seeds recently. You need to keep the soil moist and I built a self watering planter for those seeds. I removed the plastic after 2 weeks of sprouting but the plants looked really weak. That's normal for this type of plant. I'd recommend you to spray water on the soil once every 2 days. Also I replanted the weak sprouts and dug them deeper in the soil because they didn't stop getting taller and fell over =) (basically leave max 0,5-1 cm above soil level. After 3 weeks of sprouting a third leaf showed up on each sprout and that is where I'm at atm. 50% of the sprouts died. So you need to have back up seeds :p

Where did u buy those seeds because its been hard to find that specific kind?? The incaberry, Goldenberry, the largest ground cherry, or the cape gooseberry. Physalis peruviana. I've been looking for the seeds on the internet but there's so many varieties that u don't know if u r getting the kind u want which is the one u got.

What type of soy do you grow these in? Just regular soy sauce? So you dig a hole, pour in the soy sauce and cover with dirt? Or do you mix soy sauce with soil like a batter then plant the seed in a hole? I'm a little confused
