Rosa Littleton I’m no expert, but I googled it & first you need a male and a female tree which you can only tell on a mature, flowering tree, secondly it’s an inferior plant to the parent, and thirdly, it can take 5+ years or even much longer to bear fruit. Do a google search... lots of info out there. I’m giving this a go today, but am only wanting a couple of small ornamental trees.

palm tree does not need this much hassle. Just through it in wet ground, and it will sprout in no time. But, from experience, here in this part of the world, it does not resemble its mother(source of seed). it will be different, most likely not as good as the original 1.

It's good to open and check on them to see if they are still moist and to see how they are progressing.
After 2 weeks if it didn't grow, what should I do?
So how long does it take to get fruit? 5+ years?
I will try it today!
Thanks for your help frfr

+Amy yes they do if you don't live in an area where it is warm throughout the year
palm tree does not need this much hassle. Just through it in wet ground, and it will sprout in no time. But, from experience, here in this part of the world, it does not resemble its mother(source of seed). it will be different, most likely not as good as the original 1.
thanks for your share, how many years they give fruit ser.
Thank you so much , did you say to store them n a dark place?

1/3 sand is recommended ..or there is special potting soil specifically made for palms and cacti.
Didnt know you could do this.interesting-however will the plant be the same as parent? Produce viable fruit?

+Syed Muhammad Abbas if the bag is properly secured, there shouldn't be a significant water loss and you wouldn't need to water daily

I didn't care about the pot, besause I thought it's not effective way, so I have left it very dry. Now I have 5 mini palms in the pot and none from the moist package.. just my experience

It's better to try many at the same time to increase the chances of at least one germinating.

I've tried with 8 seeds .. 5 of them germinated after 2 weeks .. still waiting for another 4 to 6 weeks .
Doesn't take that long to sprout and grow if you soak the seeds a week first, changing the water every day, then do the paper towel thing.
How to prevent mold?

Don’t use a paper towel just plant it directly in soil
Will this work in the UK if I put it in a greenhouse

You can germinate it in a greenhouse and when it is about 1 year old you can put it outside or you can keep growing it in greenhouse
@yaz1517
