Hey can you help me? Ive tried to grow my seeds using the cotton method and putting it in a just enough sunlight and humid place. And its been 6 days no sign of growth. I'm i doing it wrong?

Glenn Forster even Bunnings sells Astrophytum. Common in Australia

Astrophytum species have been sold in Australia for at least the last 15 years - I know this because I bought fresh seed from a cacti grower who had mature Astrophytum myriostigma in his collection

По российским меркам - дико много воды, даже поливают сразу после пересадки. В наших условиях астрофитумы сгниют при таком уходе. Может в южной Европе так и можно, не знаю. А при правильном для наших широт уходе астрофитумы - не сложные кактусы, но увлажнения в прохладную пасмурную погоду не перенесут, особенно астериасы.

Дядька вообще с ними не церемонится, тычет по-мокрому в какой-то чернозем, сплошная антисанитария )) У меня в прожаренном чистом кварце под led-прожекторами магазинная смесь частично гниет, а уж на что там выносливые виды кладут. Второй опыт посева, в следующий раз буду уже видовые сеять. А первые пикировку в 4 месяца пережили насухую, из песка - в песок. В полгодика почвосмесь замешаю.

Not the first mention was made of what age these seedlings were when the transplantations were made or the frequency of watering. I think THAT information would have been useful. Other than that, I appreciated the vid. Thanks. I assume (sigh) that the soil MUST be allowed to become dry between waterings ...

Let me share my experiences: In one technique, you put them in an airtight container with a certain amount of water, fungicide and put the seeds on top. They need light to germinate. The container stays closed for at least a year. Fungus gnats love fresh Astrophytum roots, if you leave them open. You don't need to make the first "when they develop the areola" transplant, as you won't sow 120 seeds in one mini pot as he does. Baby plants need constant humidity or moisture, if you want them to grow quickly. He is using Superphosphate as fertilizer. The charcoal that he uses prevents mold and bacteria growth, others use fungicide. Fresh seeds germinate in one day. In the first year many will die, in the second some more, then in third year some will die.

how long till they gat that big?

2 questions. . Why the need to do that repotting when they are still very little? - mines have red colour.. too much sun exposure? Thanks!

Probably you got the variegated. Good for you. I do repotting after 6 months or when the seedlings are too crowded in the pot 😁

What is mixture of potting mix

They grow slower due to the lack of chlorophyll, also more likely to die from direct sunlight

Fresh Astrophytum seeds sprout fast, if seeds are not fresh it might not germinate. I've had my seeds sprouting in 3 days only but they do grow slow.

EVERYBODY'S taste in music is different. So I don't care what kind of music you play, you are GOING to severely irritate SOMEONE. Dispense with the music. It provides NO information at all! And I am SEVERELY disappointed that you make NO mention WHATSOEVER of how much time elapses between each segment ... between each step ... between each time you transplant them.
