I’ve was told you shouldn’t use clippers or shavers on a Pom as it can cause Alopecia? Has anyone else heard this? Your groom is wonderful

Why would anyone want a cut other than the teddy bear? It slays me! Nicely done!

Coat seems too shaved down.. contrary to popular belief, a poms overcoat is important during warm weather as well. Shaving them down to this extent can expose them to risks involving UV. I think it's pretty easy to determine whether or not a Pomeranian is in your best interest if the coat is considered too much of an upkeep.

She did not shave the dog. She used a guard comb. Coat was not destroyed.

@@gloriad27 ...I'm a hairstylist by trade and I can tell you that yes it has a guard on the clippers but that is meant for not cutting the skin and to clip the hair at a certain length.We do the same on people. so yes Shaving a poms coat is not how you groom the dog. this is what you do to poodles.

i love pomerania with teddy bear style cut

My Pom is the same coloring but reverse. I am retired and got him through rehoming but wasn't planning on having to spend $55 every month which is a lot for me. I took him to a new place, mind you I live in a small town, that was only $45 and he did not come out looking like what you did. I guess I'm going back to the expensive place. Wish I could learn how to do it myself. He looks so perfect.

I just got to say. I love your work. I watch you every day …I want to become groomer. just order my book note on the table Grooming .. hopefully that will work.

PLEASE DO NOT *EVER* SHAVE A CAT! It causes major issues for them. The only time they should ever be shaved is for surgeries and medical treatments.

When doing this teddy bear cut does it ruin the undercoat? I have a pomeranian and want to do this but scared Ill get his undercoat

Ashley Anne there is always a chance that a Pomeranian’s coat won’t grow back but I always use combs (blade attachments) to protect the hair follicles as much as possible. This Pomeranian has had a comb clip before and his coat grew back the same every time.

@@obsydian_jay It’s other peoples dogs, I know many dogs with this haircut and if the groomer cares and is careful the dogs fur always grows back, also like I said it’s other peoples dog the human isn’t doing dog harm if they cut the dogs hair their just going to be extra extra careful, these haircuts are expensive so if the owner is paying for this they obviously care and have the money to be careful❤️🙏

DON'T DO IT! A double coat dog NEEDS both layers to regulate their body temperature. Always ask for "scissor trim" which will protect the integrity of the coat. Just because it's cute doesn't make it healthy for the dog. There are breeds that have a natural teddy bear look but pomeranians aren't one of them. It's possible to give a tight scissor trim that looks adorable and won't ruin your baby's coat

I had my dog's hair cut like this twice and both times his hair fell out. It took a year to grow back. Do you know why this happened?

It’s because you’re not supposed to shave a pom’s fur. There’s a reason why it fell out, because they have a double coat and shaving into the first layer (which is what keeps them warm or cool) will damage it !!

Yes! When they shave the undercoat off it damages the coat! The longer guard hair grows faster than the undercoat so it either falls out or grows back patchy. Double coats should only be trimmed with shears so neither coat is damaged. I'm so sorry this happened to your baby! Groomers that shave do it because it's faster and they can fit more appointments in a day. They have not done the work to learn about what's best for the breed.

1. Not when the owner of the dog is a groomer and gave you his consent. 2. Not when you are using a comb attachment instead of a blade. 3. Not when you know the dog has had this done before and his coat will grow back faster then weeds and stronger then ever. Now it could be the worst thing if you are not disclosing to the owner that the coat might not grow back AND you are shaving a double coated dog down with a 7 or 10 blade.

I want you to groom my Pom!😅

So sad to see all that beautiful fur shaved off. Poms are meant to be fluffy!

Dawnsky1957 this Pomeranian is a fellow groomers Pom. His fur grows like weeds and although I agree with you sometimes the upkeep of the undercoat is a lot. :)

Totally agree with you on that one! I myself have two Pomeranians and I groom them myself after a groomer shaved them without my permission and damaged them and my white one’s fur never came back as fluffy. However…some people agrees to have their Poms shaved and it’s ok with them. With this groomer though, she did a great job and turned out so beautiful. In fact I would probably do that hair cut to my Poms without using the clippers and hopefully I can somehow copy that great job she did 🥰

Not when they live in areas where it's hot🤷 also for people who don't groom their long haired dogs often they should rather cut their hair so it doesn't get matted.

NEVER SHAVE A DOUBLE-COAT DOG! Educate your pet parents and offer a "teddy bear" cut modification that's cute AND healthy for the dog

@@jayholowka8815 Yes it is. Pomeranians are double coated dogs, and therefore should not have their fur groomed like this. They really only need a brush and bath, and possibly a small trim. The only time they should be shaved or groomed in this manner is for surgical or sanitary reasons. Cutting a double coated dog's fur like this can damage the undercoat and it will likely never regrow in the same way. It can cause problems like overheating and sun burning, as well as hypothermia.

Pom-Poms are double-coated dogs and regulate body heat with their fur and helps them not get really, really hot…Shaving a double-coated dog can somewhat harm them, but only if the owners don’t know this and are careless about how they handle these dogs and just leave them shaved, and don’t watch over the dog and treat them like they still have the same protection which leads them to get heat stroke..in the summer I give my Pom-Pom this haircut and always have the a/c on and give them tons of cold water even when I go on the road and even get dog sunscreen and during the winter you should get dog jackets and sweaters if your going to cut your dog like this in the Winter❤️🙏

Poor dogs teeth are bad , the owner should brush them or have a vet clean them 😳

You should never shave a pom
