Matteo - just bought your LUT for the Pocket 4k. I'm very impressed. You fixed the over saturated brown issue I've seen with the camera when compared with Arri. Soooo much better. Also - you've got really nice highlight roll off and not too much contrast! Definitely my new default LUT for the camera. You've saved me a bunch of time - and got me to a better place with the footage. Thank you very much.

@@matteobertoli My pleasure! One thought in the event you create more looks.. The only other thing I noticed in the Arri is that they saturate a certain range of pink much more than the blackmagic. Arri obviously has fantastic skin-tones that really pop - and I think this saturation is part of their secret sauce. I really noticed it when I did a side by side (video on my channel) and the female model happened to wear a bright pink top with pink/red lipstick. In every shot the Arri saturated it much more. I even went into the blackmagic footage and did a secondary node to bring it up for the purpose of the video. If by chance you want any of the footage from that shoot to compare, just let me know... Thanks again!

Lane McCall yep and the new arri rec709 is a lot more magenta, which we don’t think it’s good at all. That’s why we pushed a bit more towards green :)

Comet Color and Using Conversion tool to go to Arri Color space and the Arri LUT. (liking yours the best btw).

Hi. For the GH5s, do you recommend overexposing V-Log a little? I've seen lots of differing opinions on this and wasn't sure if your LUTS worked best with a certain exposure. Thanks!

Welcome back! Thank you for the great videos! QUESTION I use the BMPCC4k BRAW, FILM, and in Davinci I use the IPP method of editing and a final last node Color Space Transform of BM Film v3 TO ARRI Alexa. Would I then use the BUTTERY LUTs to bring it to REC 709? (Then export...)

How do you think the natural Rec 709 LUT compares to performing a color space conversion?

3:17 When I do this to my og bmpcc RAW footage. It gets really dark and the colours change drastically, it even has a red/magenta tint to it. This was with Natural Rec 709 V3. Changing it to V1, I got better results, colours are better and it isn’t as dark but it is nowhere near as good how your footage looks. I tested this in different lighting conditions btw. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to enable/disable some other settings?

Thanks for the tuto, Matteo. I may have skipped a beat, why do you put the LUT on the second node? Is the LUT discrete?

Matteo, I really enjoy your videos and appreciate your talent as a cinematographer. One quick note about Resolve, though. There is no need to use a second node for the LUT because any node LUT is applied last, after any other operations in the node. So if you used just one node, and did both grading and the LUT application in that node, the result would be exactly the same. If you want to use a separate node just for organizational purposes, that's fine. But it's not technically necessary. You can also use the output LUT slot in Resolve, but that will apply to everything in the timeline and not allow any operations after the LUT.

Great tutorial! Thank you. Could you go over the project color management settings you use with the LUTs? I have been using DaVinci RGB and Rec709 Gamma 2.4 for Timeline Color Space and Output Color Space. Is this correct?

what happen if i qualifier the skin at the third node and increase the gain? is it the same as increase the gain before the lut node on qualifiered skin?

Hi Matteo, I purchased the buttery LUTs, the natural rec 709, I have bmpcc 4K. I’m new to Resolve so I’m still learning, the question I have is, I am able to grade with your lut in FCPX or is better to grade in Resolve to get the most out of the LUT?

Blend hey! It’s a cube file so you can use it with any software. DaVinci is just a better color grading software, but the LUT is identical

vinay never used it in my entire life. Just apply the lut and do basic adjustments and you are good to go!

As long as you shoot raw and can switch color science to v4 in DaVinci. I have them worked with the original pocket and the 2.5k doing this procedure

When I drop this LUT (buttery Rec 709) on my black magic 6k raw footage using a second node it looks terrible...I have to be doing something wrong. Is there a resource or group to share photos of what I’m doing to try and figure this out?

Hi, Mateo! I was bought your luts last year. Only now update Davinci for new version and do not understand how to work with gen5 since with your luts. It is more flat than gen4. Buttery +1,+2 contrast not sure that it work correct.. Do I have to update your luts too, for gen5 color since?

can you make a video how to do this with bmpcc 6k? having trouble converting from braw to rec709. Just have to select Gen 5 from the Color Science tab in the blackmagic raw section and that does it?

@@matteobertoli I mean before we use the LUT, does it matter which color space we operate in, as in in the color management pipeline. Da vinci has various color spaces depending on which camera you use or was that some thing you took care of while designing the LUTS and that they are good to go.

@@nigerian-nightmare I discovered myself that if you stick to color science DaVinci YRGB & Timeline color space Rec.709-A, you will get great results with his LUTS, they are actually good, it just requires some self digging depending on what footage you are dealing with and what end delivery you are looking at.

Yep we just recently updated them so you have both gen4 and gen5 ;)

Hi Matteo. I just bought the Buttery LUTs for my BMPCC 6K Pro and downloaded the LUTs to my External SSD. But I cannot view them on the Import LUTs panel to view it on the Camera. Can you please advice how I can fix this and view the LUT?? Thanks

Is your camera updated to the latest firmware? The 6k pro originally had a bug where you could not import LUTs

Hapa Films if you are trying with the original BMPCC you need to shoot RAW. If you are trying with BMPCC4K, you can’t since you are already in v4

I bought and tried those LUTs and I cannot understand why someone has to overexpose the footage like that. It’s insane and make them totally unusable in low light. You are also gonna risk to blow up your highlights all the times. Not a fan.

@@matteobertoli im using mine with the Ninja v. What color preference should I set? Canon eos Cinema, neutral 709 or neutral 2020?

This seems almost too easy to be true. All this time I thought you were supposed to have all the primaries nodes done prior to the LUT node. Balance, sat, exposure, etc. So if I do this, I’m not doing it “wrong” or whatever, right?
